  1. "Yeah." Tayen grabbed the lantern, then spasmed, nearly dropping it.
  2. The feeling became painful, and Helda recognized it. It was the same as what Carab had done to them back in his mansion.
  3. "I have no idea." The strange feeling seemed to increase in frequency, growing sharp.
  4. They both began to feel a strange, uncomfortable buzzing beneath their skin. Reluctantly, Taken broke the kiss, though he didn't let go of Helda. "Do you feel that?"
  5. Tayen found himself feeling strangely giddy, as he often did with her. He deepened the kiss, hands tangling in her hair, then running down her neck and back.
  6. "And I love you the same."
  7. He melted into her, feeling her restored warmth. The terror of the situation felt like it had frozen him too, and now he thawed, feeling happy and alive.
  8. "I'll always be hear for you." Tears stung his eyes. "I'm just glad you're okay."
  9. He pulled her closer, breath shaky as some of his tension and fear finally released. "Do... do you know what that was?"
  10. He carefully lit it, keeping it upright and steady so as not to risk spilling fuel. Then he ground the torch against the earth, extinguishing it. He took her into his arms.
  11. "Okay... What should I do with the torch?"
  12. "Are you sure you need to do that?"
  13. He jolted, pulling it back. "Don't do that! You might get hurt..."
  14. Finally, he arrived and knelt down, holding the torch toward her.
  15. After scrambling for what felt like much too long, he found a torch and began to make for the shed. He held it carefully so as to keep it from blowing out, not caring that it burned to hold it close.
  16. "I love you too. Always." He left, and immediately began to search frantically for any source of fire.
  17. "Okay. I'm... I'm going to go get you fire. I'll be back very soon. Okay?"
  18. "I don't think I'll be able to start a fire here... Maybe there's a torch or something somewhere? But I don't want to leave you."
  19. "Oh, Helda. What... what can I do?"
  20. He just kept holding her, at a loss.
  21. "I think something's wrong, more than just the cold. You should be getting better."
  22. "Are you warming up at all?"
  23. He continued to hold her, trying to quell his spiking fear.
  24. "It's okay. We're just going to wait here until you're warmer, and we'll figure this out."
  25. "I know. I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
