  1. I'll be okay... He went quiet.
  2. I'll be fine, it just might take some effort.
  3. I should try to return to my body.
  4. Eventually he reappeared, seeming a bit more present. I'm sorry. You must have been worried.
  5. For a while, there was no longer any sign of him.
  6. I love you... He went quiet and his presence vanished.
  7. I'm tired. Very tired...
  8. No. I used the magic against him, I guess. @Lightweaver2
  9. She felt the barest hint of familiarity.
  10. Carab trembled, then began to burn. It came from the inside out. A whiff of a burning smell, a wave of heat. Light assisted under his skin, then the flesh dissolved into flames and embers, burning away like a piece of paper in a firestorm. He was left as ash on the ground.
  11. "What happened to the magic..." He frowned, then seemed to falter.
  12. Carab approached them, rage more evident now. "What did you do?"
  13. It was devoid of anything. @Lightweaver2
  14. Helda felt the pain and strange feeling beneath her skin vanish. It left a strange feeling of absence for something that had given no sign of presence.
  15. Carab walked away, leaving her with Tayen's lifeless form.
  16. "And there we go! That was simple enough. His soul should now have lost cohesion and been scattered irreparably across space and time."
  17. He stepped back and collapsed her easily. "Let's see. He's already well past the point he reached before. Just a bit further now..."
  18. "No. The most pain I can inflict on you without destroying your mind comes by killing you. And I'd like you to be lucid for this lesson."
  19. "I... should teach you... a lesson." As he spoke, Helda could a tension in the air. Tayen had gone motionless, but the pain was increasing.
  20. "I could kill him. I've done a bit more... research. Properly applied, this can truly destroy a soul."
  21. "Last time, he survived. And I let him, because I wanted to do some simple tests and I assumed you'd be cooperative for his sake. I was incorrect." Tayen collapsed.
  22. Unfortunately, Carab greeted them right there. He appeared well composed despite how their last meeting had ended. He seemed to speak to Helda specifically, eyes flashing with something far removed from his previous twisted interest and excitement. It was rage. "Hello again. I think it's about time you learn a lesson."
  23. "I'm okay... Let's get out of here." The pain in both of them increased steadily.
