  1. One word to rule them all…
  2. “Thanks,” she whispered. “I… I appreciate the concern, but it’s nothing. Really, it’s nothing. Nothing important. I promise.” She stared at her feet.
  3. She shook her head hard. “Nothing. I… wanted to be in a tree, is all.” She didn’t meet his eyes, and she couldn’t keep the pink out of her cheeks.
  4. “Stop! Stop. I am fine. Don’t burn metals. I’ll come down.” She slowly worked her way down the branches, drawing the journey out as long as possible.
  5. “No! Don’t! Stay there! I’m fine. I’m fine!” She frantically searched for an escape. She supposed e could become a wind chime again, if worst came to worst.
  6. “I mean I won’t.” She wrapped her arms around the thin trunk of the tree. “I’ll just live up here for the rest of my life.”
  7. “No,” she called, her face burning. “I mean, yes, I can, but no, I won’t. Are… are you okay?”
  8. “You’re going to get hurt! Run!” Small, smooth bits of glass like squished marbles started falling from the sky. They pelted her skin insistently as she clung hard to the branch and squeezed her eyes shut. They had more force behind them than she’d expect, and they hurt more, too. They’re going to get hurt! TAAron’s going to get hurt! Stop it! STOP IT! After maybe twenty seconds, it did. Haly was left trying uselessly to hide.
  9. Haly shivered, seeing TAAron with Lerac. That was even closer. Her panic suddenly ratcheted up a few notches. What if he tells? He’s going to tell! What do I do? What can I do? What do I… The skin of her fingerprints started to tingle insistently. No! Not this! Not now! “Look out!” She screamed. “It’s happening again!”
  10. Haly spun onto a swarm of glass birds and swooped up to the highest branches of a high tree. She coalesced back into herself and quivered anxiously on the branches. That was far too close.
  11. Haly yelped. “No! Stop! Wait! What are you doing?”
  12. “I didn’t!” She covered her eyes. “Did I? I don’t think I did. And now it’s all weird… when are we going into the tower?”
  13. She gasped, heart thumping. “Why?”
  14. She shrugged again, casting an anxious glance at TAAron. “You told him, didn’t you?”
  15. She shrugged in response to Lerac, breaking eye contact with TAAron and trying not to blush. It worked about as well as trying to save fantasy characters from untimely deaths. “I don’t know. But he’s ferocious and cute.”
  16. Nayka glanced over, worried for her friend. “See?” Kealie finished eating her vegetables and left to continue practicing. [details to follow]
  17. That incited some amount of panic. “He joins us, of course,” Haly replied, watching Lerac uncertainly. I shouldn’t have talked to him. That was a mistake.
  18. Dread pooled in Haly’s stomach. She stepped forward with an anxious glance at TAAron. “What did you do?” She whispered.
  19. Haly grinned. “Yes! Yes they are.” She dumped a large pile of marshmallows on the ground.
  20. “Marshmallows at the camp,” Haly promised. They arrived and she flung an out her arms. “This is camp,” she announced. “That’s TAAron, Nameless, and Lerac. Everyone, meet Shark!”
  21. This rabbit was a grin machine. “Let’s go back to camp so you can meet the boys.” She started in that direction.
  22. She tossed it to him. “How about every time Wynn or I gives you a marshmallow, we can pet you?”
  23. She produced a little marshmallow. “I’ll give you food anytime if I can pet you anytime. And Wynn too.”
  24. I am silent. I gather things. Like marshmallows. Sorry, the roleplay is just perfect right now and all that.
  25. “Fiadh needs some sort of medicine. Do you have anything?”
