    The door in question was black ebony inset with silver. Vey stepped up to it and examined the knob, then nodded in satisfaction. "This one should be okay. Open it." "We could at least hear him out."

    He spread his arms. "Pick any door! There are signs of dangerous ones, so we'll stay away from those."

    Bat smiled. Birds were really very nice creatures. "Indeed! Imagine the amount of people who might go there." She bounced, excited. "That would be quite fantastic! We'll have all the answers to every question, the solution to every problem! We'll be bursting at the seams with visitors. Fabulous!"

    He stood and led her back to the barn. He opened another door that was on the side next to the one that led inside. This normal door opened back into the hallway. He'd gotten the feeling she'd prefer not to go back through the barn. Or at least she'd be more comfortable.

    Not too far. Honestly? Yes, he did. If anything went wrong, she could just Narrate him back, right? I... kind of would like to try, he admitted. Curiosity, he told it. Maybe happiness. "I look forward to working with you. May warm wind speed your wings." She retreated into the shadows of her castle. As he left it behind, it all crumbled to dust. Bat thought they looked very happy.
