Wynn's eyes flitted about, dazzled. "I...I've never been in someone else's soulscape like this before." She looked amazed.

She held on tightly. "Be careful. If you lose control, things could get dangerous."

"You have to do it. I don't know how your magic works."

"Yes..." She hesitated. "It should be within your power, as an immortal."

"That's the challenge of being human, isn't it? You have to trust people without knowing every aspect of them. This is what I came for. I trust you."

She thought. "You, unpossessed? We chafed, of course, but I didn't think you were terrible. Just too nosy for your own good."

Wynn laughed, but her expression was still serious. "It's literally impossible for you to be as bad as Malum. How many innocents have you killed? How many people have you tortured? Heck, there's no way you're even as bad as me. I've lived eons, killed thousands, and broken countless hearts. Are you really trying to tell me you're worse than that?"

She gritted her teeth. "Not this time. Try and check, Lerac. Is Malum manipulating your emotions?"

"I've shown you my deepest depths. You think I don't know my own feelings?"

"Well, I don't care what you believe, because you're wrong."

"I don't have a good reason, except that I love you. I'm not just gonna let you die again."

Wynn spluttered. "No reason not to-" Her face darkened. "If you must. Just know that I will literally die before it comes to that. And your powers wouldn't be able to revive me."

"No." She shook her head violently. "Absolutely not. You're immortal now. If you die, I won't be able to make any kind of deal for your soul. It won't come to that." She looked worried, though.

She looked at the agents, but they were distracted. "What is it?"

The sliver vanished silently. "Good." Wynn stretched. "Now, we wait."
