Chapter 7: A Watcher at the Rim
Shut up, I did not choke up when Kaladin went all floaty at the end, you choked up!
One of down sides to reading this at work.
'You ok over there?'
'Yeah, yeah, just these legal documents get me all emotion at times.'

The beauty of being behind a desk. Everyone thinks your working.

Yay, I need an excuse to stop working.

Not sure if he's underrated - not by me at least - but I really like Moash and I hope he has a much bigger part to play in the whole. I agree with him wholeheartedly. Kill the King. Kill them all mwahahaha

Anthony Hopkins for Taravangian surly.
Also
Yes Tom Hiddleston for Hoid

Very cool. Y'all have at it and let me know the results.

I would offer assistance but I'm well aware that any interference on my part would only serve to cause confusion in an already confusing matter.
very cool idea though

As much as this idea is out of left field... I like it. OB is about Dalinar. I suspect that his wife will play a large part in the flashbacks, she would be in a position to know about Dalinar's Shard, and he wouldn't remember the book because of his curse/boon making it something "new"... It would be an interesting way to introduce us to Shshshsh without having a direct POV...
Yep, I can definitely see Mr Sanderson doing something like this. Too bad we don't have enough info to even begin to decide if this is right though.
New chapter releases tomorrow. Hopefully may get a few more clues.
Literally a spur of the moment hairbrained theory but one I'm taking more and more of shine to.

Would be cool. Although if any book in the Cosmere has the potential to stand up in the theatrical world of online gaming, I would put my spheres on Mistborn. The mechanics involved seem a little tighter than those of SA. For the moment at least.

How far can a two armed Herdazian get walking on his own two hands?
About as far as the one armed Herdazian, minus the painspren gancho.

I do feel that the Dustbringers are being held back for a good reason, that being that they're most likely going to be insanely cool and powerful. Still,we haven't fully seen a Skybreaker go to town either. If nothing else it would be an awesome showdown.

For some reason this thread made me think that the author could potentially be from Dalinar's wife shhhhhhhh.

Yeah definitely going with Skybreakers, at least with the information we have to go on so far. Although I'm really excited to see what the Dustbringers can . . . bring.

Kaladin- /Diego Luna
I like this idea. He could actually pull off Kaladin quite well i think.

I see your points too, and I think we just have different priorities :-)
I dont want an anime though. Its not that it would be bad, but more that I have a personal bias against it. Just don't like the art-form much. I would watch it, of course, but I'd prefer a live-action tv-series in the vein of Game of Thrones.
I do agree, if they made it the way they make anime today it wouldn't be great. If I'm honest, speculating about who'd play who is interesting and enjoyable but at the end of the day just give me the BOOK.

I second what @maxal said. Whitewashing is a real issue, that a lot of people care about. Personally, I'm not as adamant as many others, but I do prefer is characters are cast as the source-material says they are, or at least similar. For example, I put more weight on skin color than eyes in my casting. I am also okay with some changes (I am willing to go caucasian for the Veden). That said, a lot of people will (understandably) feel that skin-color, eyes and nationality should matter.
I agree with both your points. It's just if "hypothetically" they did make an SA movie and didn't cast characters according to race and hair colour I personally wouldn't give an axehounds arse as long as the characters were portrayed well.
personally I think all of Brandon's work would do better in an anime arena anyway. In that realm, then Alan Tudyk would be perfect for Lopens voice.

I thought Lopen was supposed to be Hispanic... He isn't a big role, his age is unknown, it should be easy enough to find a decent actor from another ethnicity ascendance.
I don't think things like (real-world) ethnicity really matter in fantasy. Its all about the delivery of the characters and the words, and in the sense I think Tudyk could deliver Lopen very well.

Regicide and Patricide are both crimes, an order to break the law is an order a Skybreaker wouldn't follow.
Good point.

I'd be inclined to suggest that it's about Elhokar:
1. Man betrayed by a close friend - Roshone
2. Woman who has just been proposed to - Elhokar's wife
3. Man who discovered his betrothed lied to him - Also Elhokar
4. Mother at wedding of only son - Navani
Alternatively, Navani herself could probably fit pretty well (Gavilar, Navani, Gavilar, Navani).
I'm a bit confused by this statement. Are you not counting the Ars Arcanum?
I agree with this set of outcomes, as it seems like a project Navani would have been working on prior to the Everstorm. She is an artifabrian after all and its possible implications into other characters pasts we have yet to see, could be more illuminating than any of the characters current relationship. Especially in regards to Dalinar and Shhhhhhhhh

Not sure if anyone's mention it already, but Scott Lynch's Gentlemen Bastard series should definitely be up here. These are the only books I would put above anything in the Cosmere when it comes to excitement over publication date.

I always thought that he would be good as the voice of Wyndle. I'd cast Michael Pena as Lopen personally.
Yeah Michael Pena would actually be a good choice. It's more about Alan Tudyk's delivery that does it for me. I could see him making one-armed Herdazian jokes all day long on set. But Wyndle would also work.

The Thrill is a product of Nergaoul one of the Unmade.
I know, I guess what I was implying is that the Thrill is a part of an Unmade just as the virtue of being honourable is a part of the Herald Jezrien and his order of KR. So if there was a way to bind a voidspren by Odium hijacking the bonds on Roshar like - Toaster Retribution - is saying, the Thrill would be one of these avenues for him to use. I should have stated this more clearly.

I believe the same. He's obedient to a fault, it seems. Following that order will brand him a regicide. From what little we know of him and the Order he does seem to fit the best out of any character.
That or a Skybreaker.

Also Alan Tudyk would make a great Lopen.

Adolin definitely, everyone else including Renarin has something interesting surrounding them. Adolin seems like a big deal but he's really not. Although as Radiants start popping up all over the gaff I think his character will get more interesting and darker.

Crowd of worldhoppers - why they are not mentioned?

I remember reading a discussion on Reddit a few years back where someone claimed that Jasnah was said to be a potential (future) worldhopper. Not sure of the veracity of that claim and I doubt that if she was capable of worldhopping, that it would mean others like her were also capable of doing so. But if anyone could it would be her.
My own personal view is that I don't believe just being an Elsecaller or Truthwatcher grants you this ability. I think that maybe its something else entirely but that having the ability to reach Shadesmar in the first place, is probably the first step along that path.
