  1. So at first I thought they are definitely not shin. The people of this world are quite clearly asian (culturally and in the artwork.) and the Shin are quite clearly the one not genetically asian group of humans on roshar.

On second thought however, it makes a lot of sense for shin linguistic customs to stick around if they merge with the other ethnicities around them, leading to (mostly) asians having shin honorifics like nimi

  2. A question often posed is why heralds refuse to wear shardplate.

I think I've found the answer.

We see how shardplate is resistant to surge and void binding. This is because as a god metal, it is so saturated with investiture as to resist other forms of investiture.

Interestingly it also blocks other forms of investiture, such as emotional allomancy.

Does Shardplate provide protection against emotional Allomancy?

    Brandon Sanderson

Yes. Don't dismiss your helmet when you're around an Allomancer.

We've known for a while that heralds did not need to carry gemstones, which is presumable because honor is channeling investiture into their bodies through their honorblade bond, similar to how bondsmiths "Create" powerlight

So heralds don't wear plate so that they can receive investiture directly from honor(placed presumably in the sky)

The Heralds, back before Honor died, were they directly powered by Honor?

    Brandon Sanderson

Yes. You’ll find out more about that, but the Shardblades [pretty sure he means Honorblades here] were pieces of Honor’s soul that he gave them and direct access to his essence.

    Steeldancer

    Like Vin and Elend?

    Brandon Sanderson

Yeah, a little like that. That’s why Honorblades don’t work like Shardblades do, like Radiants do.

The second part of the question is, what would happen if they were directly powered by Honor and they were holding Nightblood?

Additionally, it might actually kill them. We see from Jezrien that heralds die rapidly when their soul is separated from the physical world. Theirfore this level of investiture insulation could slowly starve a herald of their divine essence

*reading a personalization request* Did Kelsier fill copperminds for reasons other than to share knowledge? Did he want to forget certain memories?

    *written* Yes. Yes.

Those may not be causally related. You asked two separate questions and got two separate answers.

    JordanCon 2016 (April 23, 2016)

Soooo..... Here the theory. We know that kelsier has one spike stapling his identity to a mistwraith. But apparently he believes he cannot get more to regain allomantic powers. What if, this is actually because this would open him to harmony's influence? What if he once had more, but had his mind taken over by sazed, in order to save south scadrial. What if thats where the coppermind is from. Sazed tried his best to delete kelsier's memories of the intrusion?

    Just a crackpot theory

  4. It seems he is collecting the most optimally functioning organs he can find. It seems he is very interested in human anatomy and organ function, and even comments on how he needs tress' remarkable brain, etc. He also suggests that he might be looking to figure out how to let humans function similarly to him, lacking a heart, and consuming fewer calories.

So presumably he is trying to get the most detailed understanding of human biology in the cosmere, and/or upgrade himself, or others

  5. Yah, It also makes sense with silver acting a spiritual anchor, and wearing silver jewelry helping in anchoring you in cognitive anomalies

It makes me wonder what would happen if a herald were to wear the silver chain raboniel recieved. Luckily, The chain is probably now in the possession of Navani Kholin, in close proximity to two heralds. Or we could see It being given to Szeth and Kaladin on their quest

I know this is a bit of a nit pick... but as a blade smith I can tell you that there is still a huge difference even with standardization. Probably it's mostly because of quality control differences, but there is still a noticeable difference in steels from different regions.

I think Thenody Silver very well might be different from other silvers. Also I would like to see the effect of Silver on one of the corrupted Spren, it may be that it is a purifier of investiture.

I really like this idea. The shades are definitely not how thredonites are supposed to turn into cognitive shadows, and the aethers on lumar are often described as cancerous, a fecund and violent evolution of aethers. The silver might either be destroying the impure investiture, or realigning it with it's ideal spiritual identity

  7. SP3 Spoilers

    Spoiler

I think That even with hoid freeing design from roshar, they still need to be close together for design to stat manifested in the physical realm, which is why, when design wants to settle down, she turns hoid into a coathanger. (I think she did this by making him burn cadmium and duralamin, with him modifying the bubble to just cover himself.)

Thus I think It's likely that Design is actually the monster that UlaAm keeps in his drawer. He says he stitched a few faces to it, which makes sense, as this is probably before SP3, and Design probably asked him to try to give her a human body.

  8. aparrently not all silver in the cosmere is made equal. For example Rosharan silver notably lacks this property, and special thredonite silver is imported. Perhaps this property is simply a byproduct of a method of investiture that multiple shards can do.

  9. It seems that Taldain is by far the most advanced Cosmere world, probably at modern or near futuretech at the moment. Given Autonomy's intent, It's highly likely that While the system isn't conducive to cosmere immigration, individuals on taldain with grit, and determination, can probably bypass whatever is making offworld travel difficult. It's definitely possible since, I'm pretty sure Hoid was in white sand, and besides we've seen, white sand(The substance) offworld, with odium's forces, and I think in mraize's office.

Thus I think It's more thank likely that technical and scientific knowledge has been leaking out of taldain, And The GB are likely privy to such discoveries.

  10. Soo hear me out. I think Harmonium Can make you a feruchemist, but not how ya'll are theorizing.

It seems like Harmonium, As a fusion of ruin and preservation naturally rejects being used for allomancy or hemalurgy(Explody Powers). What people are sleeping on, is that It's most usable Metallic art is Feruchemy, as it is made of both Ruin and Preservation.

I think Harmonium lets you store invested abilities.

Not like necrosil, which stores the product of abilities, but the abilities themselves.

It's additional utility, is that as the ultimate Feruchemical Metal, anyone can store or tap it.

Soooooo..... Its real power is making Mistborn/Feruchemists in an end neutral manner. All one would have to do, is find 32 mistings and ferrings, and get them to give up their powers (Pay them exorbitant ammounts maybe? or be a supervillain idk), Tap the Harmoniummind, and BAM, you're the new Lord Ruler

  11. Its also pretty unlikely that 5th ideal spren get physical manfestations seeing as how ishar is trying so hard to pull spren into the physical. It would probably be simpler for him to simply find 5th ideal radiant spren, given how there have been 5th ideal skybreakers running around for a while

  12. A-pewter actually goes really well with F-Gold. You can probably power through the groginess of storing health by burning pewter, and thus have a lot more health reserves. Plus  A-Pewter lets you keep fighting despite mortal wounds, making it harder to incapacitate you while you heal. This would also be a great combination for worldhoppers, making yourself very good in a scrap, immune to exhaustion(Tapping Health probably offsets pewter drags), and near impossible to kill. Both metals should also be common, even on low tech worlds, though gold is a bit pricy, you aren't burning it, just keeping it on,(or in) you

  13. When talking with harmony at the end of the book, Kelsier is revealed to be unable to use metallic arts as  CS, and is desperately trying to regain his powers.

But... In his conversation with the bilming ghostbloods through a seon, Kelsier says that he cannot move faster as he is over water, and thus his steelpushing is useless.

So Either: Kelsier is lying to the ghostbloods, pretending to be a misting in order to command greater respect.

Kelsier has a coinshot friend he piggy back rides like max, or

kelsier can actually use A-Steel through as of yet unseen A-medallions. This would make sense as if he cant use medallions, why make the bands? (but this is somewhat contradicted by his one POV chapter, where he laments his inability to use A-Iron and A-steel, so the whole thing is rather confusing)

In any case, the 1st is most likely, which adds a bit of edge to when marasi asks if the ghostbloods can rely on even him to never keep secrets.

Wax had also been told to use the other, non-red-X vials in preference to his normal ones, but we never really see why (unless they were aluminum-sided vials?).

Basically I think yes the 15 vials had all 16 normal metals. Thats where wax got the duralumin he used to jump.

Odd that He learned he had duralumin reserves, but still had to have harmony explain that the first 15 vials had extra metals in them.

Theres also a notable time jump, as we dont see wax and wayne prepare to go after the warship, including stealing spikes. Wayne probably could recall where he threw the flask, and have wax fetch it.

  15. So, I think The extra bit of preservation is what allows humans to ascend past hunting and gathering. They preserve more than they destroy, thus having a end positive civilization. A group of humans with more ruin than preservation would slowly devolve as a society, which is definitely not what we see with the S Scadrians.
