  1. Unless I’m badly mistaken, we only know two 5th Ideals at this point. The Lightweavers’, of course, is to speak one last truth about themselves, and the Skybreakers’ is “I am the law.” Since we haven’t actually seen a Lightweaver speak the final ideal, we don’t know if there’s a theme to what their “final truth” has to be. Taking a little leap of faith, I would think that this truth would be something simple, but powerful. In Shallan’s case, this might be along the lines of “I am enough.” (Now that I say this, I can’t imagine that Shallan’s final ideal will be anything other than this). Leading back to the Windrunners, I think their final ideal is probably something brief that embodies what their order is at heart, like the Skybreakers being dedicated to the law, or the Lightweavers being dedicated to truth. Some ideas might be “I am Honor,” “I will protect” (maybe that’s a little too close to the first ideal?), etc.
  2. @Frustration Ah, sorry. Reading back on my original post, my wording wasn’t very clear. Chapters 86 and 88 are both Venli/Eshonai flashbacks. I was talking about the bolded words at the beginning of each flashback chapter (in lieu of an epigraph) that tell you how much time in the past the chapter takes place. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
  3. Shouldn’t the wording be consistent, though?
  4. In the beginning of chapter 86 (US hardcover) it says “One and a half years ago.” However, in chapter 88 it says “A year and a half ago.”
  5. The climax with Shallan and Veil in Lasting Integrity happened too fast. When I finally processed what was going on, the chapter was already over, and we didn’t see Shallan again until around 100 pages later.
  6. Probably Jasnah, although I like most of the characters in the cosmere.
  7. Thanks @Liahona!
  8. What about Knights of Honor? According to Vorinism, the letter h can be used as a stand-in when dealing with palindromes. That’s why Shallan is only one letter away from symmetry and not two.
  9. I got Knife of Worth. Considering that this is Szeth’s book, I’m doubtful that this is a contender.
  10. Oh, ok - I didn’t realize that. But still, why are there different ones on each arch? Since each Herald has a title, e.g. Herald of War or Herald of Justice, would those themes appear in the chapter headed by those Heralds? Maybe I’m reading into this too much, but now I have to go check.
  11. Two things! Firstly, what’s up with the faces on the sides of the decorative chapter header things in each of the Stormlight books? At first, I thought they would have something to do with either the chapter’s viewpoint or its contents, with each face representing a specific character. However, that theory got shut down pretty quickly, given that sometimes faces would pop up in chapters where the characters I associated with them weren’t even mentioned. The faces could represent a specific idea present in the chapter, but I don’t have the patience to test that theory. Maybe someone who’s already finished RoW and has more time on their hands could give it a go. Of course the faces could just be random and only there for decorative purposes, but what’s the fun in that? Secondly, I noticed that the some of the chapter headers are darker or lighter than others. It’s more noticeable in hardcovers, but it’s there in the paperbacks too. The color changes very subtly between each chapter, but if you compare a chapter header from the front of a book to one from the back of the same book, the difference is noticeable. I may be reading into things too much here, but this seems very strange, and it feels like there’s too much variation for it to be a simple printing error. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
  12. I’m currently reading Stormlight, and I’ve loved all of it so far, especially Oathbringer. (I’m about 2/3 of the way through RoW). I also loved the first Mistborn series, and after I finish RoW I’m going to read Mistborn Era 2.
  13. I’m an Elsecaller! I find it curious that other people got negative answers - my lowest was Dustbringer, but that was still over 30 percent.
  14. Elsecaller here! (at least that’s what I got in the Order quiz)
