  1. Hi! So, quick question. I was gifted the Vorrh by Caitling Brian a few years back. I tried to read it then but I wasn't feeling it, but I am thinking on trying again. I thought that this might be a good place to ask if it is worth it. Has any of you read it? Do you have any thoughts on it? Thanks in advance!
  2. I am really looking forward to this! I truly thought Reckoners was finished so this is a nice surprise! Looking forward to see (hear?) what is the state of the world and the Epics after Calamity's endings.
  3. I guess it is... I really liked it too thoguh! Would love to, but I am patientily waiting on a realease date Doors of Stone to read A Wise Man's Fear... well actually to reread Name of the Wind, too. Any day now
  4. That... that would be a hard sell, at least for me. He is way past redemption. Which is odd as I love Dalinar and I loved his redemption arc. I just think that we got really close to it when he lost his connection to Odium. That was his chance and he blew it as he didn't felt bad about what he had done, he felt bad about feeling. I think he can't go back from that. I don't know... maybe in the back 5 books if he does something splendid in the next one? I'd rather not anyway. True! If someone can do bad people POV is Brandon though, we have had Sadeas -and Ialai, maybe- in the past. Even Sja-anat. But I think we won't see them for the same reason we don't have Renarin POVs. They both see the future and therefore know too much.
  5. My first was the Reckoners series last summer. A colleague from work was reading Oathbringer and talked about the Stormlight Archive and also described in detail the way in other series "people will eat metal to shoot coins" and, while it sounded interesting, when he told the premise of Reckoners it really caught my eye. We were both -well, actually the whole studio- in the middle of a very stressful project and it was my role to handle de Supervillan -AKA, the client- so it was nice to hop in at every single available moment to the Reckoners world and fight the good fight. I was amazed by the way that Brandon was able to surpise me and subvert my expectations while being a MASTER of foreshadowing. Anyway I loved the series and ended up buying the t-shirt and the boardgame. Reckoners was really great, on par to many of other YA series I had read in the past, but oh boy. My colleague told my while laughing, "If you loved this and were surprised by the twist and turns... wait till you read the Cosmere". What a cliffhanger! However, i couldn't start Mistborn till a few months later cause Abebooks lost my order and I was distracted by this project to even notice that my boxed set wasn't arriving. I had to order it twice but once I had it... well, I am only missing The Rithmatist and the Infinity Blade books (I think) now. I am definitely Invested -capital I, of course- in the Cosmere. And I am always on the lookout for new recruits!
  6. Thanks! What a question! So many (many) to choose from. It might be an oddball but I am going to go with David from the Reckoners Series. Reckoners was my first Brandon book and I actually enjoyed his humor a lot. From the Cosmere, I think is pretty obvious after my previous choice but I love the Lift + Wyndle pair. I mean, the amount of names Lift is able to come up with is amaizing and Wyndle's patience is just top notch. Thanks! Yes! And for the first time I have to wait a year for new content (Skyward) and 2 years for non Cosmere. Luckily my SO is starting now so I will be able to relive them with her. By the way, judging by your signature you also have a great taste. What an amazingly wirtten book. What did you think of the movie? Is there some other David Mitchell book you would recommend?
  7. Hello 17thShard! What is your Intent? I'm Osvibu, chiming in from Spain so excuse my english Reading has always been a passion for me, specially Sci-Fi (Asimov, Anderson, Adams...) and Fantasy (Tolkien, Pulman, Tad Williams...). I'm also into videogames (Nintendo, Total War and Single Player) and Film and TV. I guess this is a common build During these past 18 months I have read most of Brandon's books (The Rithmatist is angrily looking at me from my shelf) and he has become my favourite author. No question at all. I'm in love with the concept of the Cosmere and find its "reality system" fascinating. As well, I am really interested in how Brandon is using this world to present and put in dialoge diferent morality and belief systems. On top of that, and I wasn't expecting it, but I have become a fan of Brandon himself. I just admire the way that he seems to have a plan and the way he deeply cares and respects his fandom. I have yet to hear him say or read something about him that makes me think less of him. All in all, that's me... Listening to the recent Shardcasts made me join so I am looking forward to be part of the community. PS: Here is my Snadershelf though ROW and WOT couldn't fit the photo. Best!
