  1. I see your point, and this may seem really nitpick-y, but I think I would argue that Kaladin had less apathy--the inability to feel--and more anhedonia--the inability to feel pleasure. I say this because even when he was in the caravan with Tvlakv and all the way up until the night at the Honor chasm, he felt things; he felt guilt, anger, worthlessness, despair, etc. I would say that he definitely tried to be apathetic but he just couldn't, which is part of why he made the decisions he did to save the bridgemen.

  3. See, I'm kind of in an opposite position. I'm struggling to get through Shallan's chapters--I know that there's a lot of character growth going on for her but right now she just irritates me. I'm ready for her as she is in WoR. Dalinar's chapters are the ones that I'm getting involved in at the moment; I feel like I've missed a lot during my previous reads that I'm catching this time through, particularly during his visions and his interpretations of the Stormfather's messages. Kaladin's chapters have always been amazing.
  4. Yes! I really like the way that Kaladin isn't the superhero character who is all motivation and drive. I appreciate that we see his struggle with depression, with the idea of giving up, and we see his fight to not be "the wretch".
  5. *totally crashing the re-read party* Can I just say that re-reading the chapters from Kaladin's time in Amaram's army is really heartbreaking? Knowing what's coming and knowing how much Kaladin struggles with those events just adds a layer of...grief to those chapters. Also, I forgot how much I really liked Yalb.
