About Lirin. Not gonna somehow justify his attitude towards Dalinar, but this scene painfully reminded the readers that Lirin is the father of his son. Kaladin was just as disrespectful towards Dalinar and other lighteyes in TWOK and WoR as Lirin now. The same blood, the same genes, the same disrespectful and judging manners.

Also his incredulity about taking the name Stormblessed

The more i read the chapter the crazier i become realizing we wont get the whole thing in a four months.

There was the first hint of something wrong happening with Kaladin as a Radiant. He cant cleep and there is some new, more frequent feeling other than exhaustion. I guess thats either somehow linked with either Ideals or with Honorsprens refusing to help Windrunners. I will go further and predict that everything will go very bad for him, and this will be connected with his exhaustion, Moash and Lirin, that will lead to him becoming just a surgeon.

I think you’re going to see Kal either bond a second spren or part of Syl’s history is being a child of Honor and Cultivation:

    -giving Kaladin 4 surges

-allowing Kaladin to balance his soldier and surgeon aspects into one self actualized person

-Brandon gets to play with how these new reasonances would operate, essentially giving Kal new power sets.

Hopefully it will be a quick evac operation without complications and all over half way through part 1....

You never know with brandon. Sometimes you breeze right over somethings. Other times it drags out for an entire part. As long as it’s I interesting and the characters play in interesting ways, I’m here for whatever.

Yeah, I think it is something more we haven't learned yet. Something that doing accounting reminds her of? Wasn't she keeping her father's accounts, that's why she could jump right in and do Sebarial's accounting.  Did she contribute to her families financial ruin in some way?

Well maybe she had a rich suitor to marry and killed him too. I joke of course

Just when I thought we'd seen the last of the literal Bridge Four, Brandon goes and transforms it into a storming flying ship!

I love how ubiquitous Windrunners and Edgedancers are now, and Lift trying to mimic the gracefulness of other Edgedancers is adorable.

I have no idea what to make of the Shallan section.  I thought a year of having a solid relationship with Adolin and having her brothers around would help her mental state, but she still seems in a not too healthy spot.  I can't even fathom what truth her personas was referring, I thought we had learned everything there was to learn about her past.

All in all, two fantastic chapters.

The physical Bridge 4 will never fully disappear from the series at this point. And yes I love seeing the Windrunner/Edgedancer Partnership. Hoping we start to see a few other orders jump in to help.

  6. Keep in mind Roshone was the lord influencing Elhokar that got Moash’s family killed. It makes perfect sense that after the king, Moash would hunt for Roshone to get his vengeance. I could see him legitimately surrendering if his bloodlust is over. But I could also see him feeling betrayed by Kal and Bridge 4.

  7. I think it would be cool if Skar became a Stoneward. I mean Renarin is Bridge 4 and he’s a corrupted truthwatcher.

I keep feeling like Kaladin is headed to bonding a second spren or Syl is some hybrid Honor-Cultivation spren. It just seems like Kal’s plot will be one of rememberence more like an Edgedancer this book. Plus it would be cool to see him get another 2 surges.

Brandon loves to twist the magic systems (as evidenced by Mistborn Era 2).

The Stormfather and Syl keep reinforcing that she is special and not like other Honorspren.

Kaladin at the same time is the soldier but also the surgeon. Perhaps the reason Syl was drawn to him was due to this duality?

Perhaps the Stormfather is her Father but the Nightwatcher is her Mother as well. Making her half cultivation spren in addition to honor spren.

As such, Kaladin could be the first (maybe only) dual Order Knight Radiant. His soldier self is a Windrunner but his surgeon is an Edgedancer.

If Kaladin began swearing a second set of ideals “I will remember those who have been forgotten” and “I will listen to those who have been ignored”, Syl and Kal could get a second set of surges. Giving Kal progression in addition  gravitation seems like a right fit if he were to take a secondary order.

Not to mention this would make Syl a child of the two bondsmith spren who are also closely connected with the Rosharan Shards as well.

    Recent WOB from Comic-Con:

    Questioner

If a Radiant uses an Honorblade or binds a second spren, could they get new abilities/ resonances by having access to Surges that aren't usually combined?

    Brandon Sanderson

    Yes, they can.

Are we going to see Kaladin bond a cultivation spren? Or will Syl end up being part cultivationspren like I’ve theorized?

Kaladin even takes a second in the comic-con reading to wish for a nearby Edgedancer to assist in a certain scenario.

  10. @R JLol that’s a far more detailed explanation. Thank you.

yeah for whatever reason I had lumped Khriss and Silverlight in with the 17th Shard in my previous understanding.

Can’t wait to start exploring more of the cosmere groups and conflicts as the story progresses.

  11. I’ve been rereading the cosmere while in quarantine. And I think I previously muddled together Khriss and Silverlight academics with Frost and the 17th Shard making one large society within cosmere events. I’ve since realized my error. Please correct me if I’m wrong where current loyalties lie within worldhoppers.

    -Hoid

    -Frost and the 17th Shard

    -Khriss, Nahz, and Silverlight

-The Nalthian Worldhoppers (opposed and unaligned)

    -The Ghostbloods

    -Felt

My immediate question is everyone else seems to have a plot. Hoid and the 17th shard, Khriss helps in building out the worlds. The ghostbloods have a plot. But what the heck is Felt doing? Is he aligned with one? And does Hoid have any allies in the great conflict that we know about?

  12. Oroden and Gavinor are going to be key players in the back 5 after the time jump.

Brandon has said that a character doesn’t need to be alive to do their flashback scenes. So perhaps Oroden and Gavinor will be the current timeline feature.

Spren are bound to the Rosharan system.  The Unmade are spren.  This could indicate that either they know something that even Hoid is after(how to get a spren off world) or that your theory is...

I also think that resurrecting ambition is a bit much.  SA is supposed to be self contained(mostly).  Adding a new shard is something that I don't think Brandon is going to do.

I would typically agree.  That’s why I doubt we will see dominion and devotion as there are Selish. Ambition hasn’t and can’t be a major player in the cosmere conflict. I admit it’s improbable. And they’re defined as spren yes. But that’s from a rosharan perspective. One of those when you’re a hammer everything around you looks like a nail kind of things

How would Odium have carried them from their respective planets?

I don’t think he carried them. He subjugated them and made them serve him as his lieutenants. But Lift’s healing combined with Dalinar’s call to unify maybe he can remake them and Ambition rejoins the battle in the back five. With another shard we could get new Spren and Radiant Orders

  15. It’s an outlandish theory but I think the Unmade are actually corrupted splinters of Ambition, Devotion, and Dominion which explain why only a few of the Unmade are sentient.

I believe Sja Anat is the sentient remains of Ambition which is why she plans on betraying Odium.
