I am still thinking what would happen. I would like some advice at what would be more interesting. Would being stabbed mean an inheritor would be unable to use his/her abilities or weaken. I did decide that stabbing an inheritor doesn't kill one, but can injure one. Slashing is a different story which does kill an inheritor. Thank you for the compliment it gives me great joy reading this. Its not impossible for one nation to the rule the world, but neither is it simple. In the world that I am thinking of developing countries aren't connected as one piece on the ground like our world. Instead countries float high in the sky which are supported by the eternal tree. There are countries that have rule more countries, but there isn't one that could take down all countries to be obedient, because every country has at least one eternal tree. Plus the fact that there are more factors that decide the military's strength.

Thank you @Frustration for your questions. 1. Its not that simple. A purpose has to be deep and what I didn't inform about is that during the stage of death that the person will be questioned by the tree who will evaluate the person of being worthy. The tree already knows alot about you without you knowing and the secret to accomplish succesion is to be honest to your true self. Be reminded that being true isn't something like wanting to serve the crown, but rather the reason why they want to serve the crown and acting like the person they truly are. 2. An inheritor's power doesn't truly change by personality, it's just that their power fit a different ability better. A person that is calm and approach problems in a logic way is better in shaping, but could also do the other things. Only difference is if the inheritor becomes a more straightforward person, it becomes harder for the inheritor to use shaping, because they need more focus and calmth which is the opposite of impulsive and impatient. Plus the fact that it doesn't mean a person becomes adept to Zerking, because they don't know how much input they should give to make a seed grow into a plant to create the right size they need. This also applies wether a person is mad or not which also influences a person's power that make it difficult to fight. 3. Not much metal is needed. Just having metal shackles around a person hand can sever the contact with their arms combined with shackles on their feet completely severs their contact to plants. Putting them in cage is another way if they cannot touch the ground and contact earth. I hope this answers your questions.

Magic is in the bones. The skeleton is what support, shape and protects us, but what if it did more then just that? Treebones: it is an inheritance of the Eternal tree in the form of a seed. A person that consumes this seed, breaks his/her nerves, then the muscles and last the bones until you're nothing for seven days until the seed starts urging for its nutrients taking all it can find around the area and start absorbing it. The bones start to take form, new muscles are created and last the nerves which wakes the person up to a new life after death. Having Treebones in my world means that a person has obtained the ability to manipulate and communicate with plants which include the bones of the user. Inheritors of Treebones have different skills but none of these skills are exclusive to one person. All inheritors follow a certain law and the laws are described as: Every inheritor needs a purpose. It might sound strange, but a inheritor without a purpose dies.(Story related) Metal severs the contact of an inheritor with plant life. The state of the mind influences the impact of someone's ability. An inheritor cannot make children. The abilities of an inheritor are: Zerking: The ability to accelerate the growth of plants for a temporal period of time. Growing plants takes time, but because of the Treebones a inheritor posses the user has a different way to transfer nutrients and make plants grow. Although I said every person can do zerking, there is a name for people that specialize in zerking called Zerker who are associated with inheritors that are impulsive and impatient. Graviole: the ability to decide gravity of plant life. I call to the seed, against the seed. Being able to push and pull from the inheritor and towards the inheritor. It makes the inheritor able to push balls of wood or pull on vines if it was touched by the essence of an inheritor(many options how this can happen). Graviolers are associated with inheritors that are preserve. Sympathy: The ability to understand what is happening. It's not like a person will know the thoughts of another person, but the user can ask for information by communicating with plants if they touch some sort of plant life that lives at the place. Sympathist are associated with Inheritors that are curious. Enhancer The ability to enhance characteristics of a plant. Inheritors use it to enhance the most simple things, like enhancing their strength by absorbing more nutrients from the ground using their feet or even enhancing the smell of a plant to attract certain animals. Enhancers are associated with inheritors that are simple-minded and straightforward. Shape: The ability to shape plant life the way you want it. Inheritors use it to shape plants in a way to get out difficult situations or even simple ones for personal use. Like making existing wood bars form into swords or a simple wooden bowl to eat from. Shapers are associated with inheritors that are calm and approach things in a logic way. Separate: The ability to separate nutrients and minerals an inheritor absorbed. It's like creating alchemy that can make inheritors create things like fire and lightning. Separator are associated with inheritors that I would call children of Loki (people that love deceit and are fickle tricksters, the liars) love to the what cannot be seen. I am still thinking if I should cover more then these, but for now I like these. Next to that I would like to tell that the bones of an inheritor and the eternal tree are special and valuable and not to only the inheritor himself, but also the normal people and the people that are able to use magic. There are also many more things in the treebones that go deeper, but before that I would like to hear the opinion of everyone about my current magic system. All feedback is welcome !

Thanks for the advice I have decided to focus on sand. Although Silicon concept seems nice, it seems too far ahead for the story I want to write for this magic system. the second well it's not exactly that I want them to be related except fro the concept of sand or else I would need eight colors instead of seven. Third changed that thanks for your opinion. I was thinking of using it for this magic system but I found it to be better for my second which I will soon share! Hope you all like it.

Thanks alot! Still flashing out what is possible and what isn't. Exactly their eyes lighten up to the color they absorb. Do you like it? I would like to know your opinions about some of the limitations I was thinking off. Not sure yet how I will make it work but I was thinking of people that absorb don't only get to use cool skills but also effect their emotion like red affects someone's impulse and rage, yellow affects someone fear(making them more catious and aware). What do you guys think?

Flux: The Magic System for my Novel, Windswept
Terra replied to Lunu’anaki's topic in Creator's Corner
I like this magic system and you are explaining it very well! I wonder how you will use it in your story. I am also very interested to know are there any differences between humans? Like in human society are there people that can use more flux because they can harness more lyfe then others or are there no differences and does only skill make a difference in how you use flux. I like how you explained lyfelack that's why I am also interested if there is a lyfelimit? keep up the great work! -
Hi everyone I am very new here and would like to share my magic system with you all. Please give me your opinion about it. The setting of the story I want to write is mostly in the dessert, but it also has settings in temples, cities and villages. Lumines is a magic system applied by Luminars(the ones able to do magic). Luminars have the ability to absorb crystal dust(Magical dust created from crystals found in the dessert), in order to fuel their Luminemancy which comes in five different forms enchantment, conjuration, transmutation, emission and manipulation. A person that can absorb one color dust is known as a Luminar. If a person is able to absorb two colors they are called scions and three are called Paragons. There are no people that can absorb all seven colors and this is because the world doesn't allow it, because of something that happened in the past. Every luminar has a certain amount of UC(UnknownChildren) cells which only a few in the world know it's origins. Luminars are rare in my world, not every son or daughter is born with it. There are rumors that only those from a great family are born with the UC cells and that is why the people listen to these families, believing it is there right. Aside from that the crystals play a big role in the world, like empowering ships to sail through the dessert like it's fast ocean, lighten up people's houses, used for forging, are used in the high coins(quartz) and even more. It is some kind of solar energy in the ancient world. Back to the luminars they are only able to use it by drinking it after it has been made into a liquid drink or by putting it on their body. By extracting the energy from the dust in the liquid their eyes glow one of the seven colors red, orange, blue, yellow, green, cyan and purple. The glow in their eyes means the luminar is charged with energy and depending on their characteristics, blood and lumine eye color they can do certain actions. Using lumines makes the shine in their eyes lose it's brightness until it's back to normal. The amount of lumine a luminar can absorb depends on the amount of UC cells. For a luminar it is very important to be able to touch what they want to use. Their ability allows them to affect not only themselves but also sand and everything that contains sand or is made of sand. examples Blue luminars are able to transmute sand into glass by infusing blue lumines into the sand, rules states that to be able to create the glass the person needs to posses the right amount of sand. This makes the blue luminar forced to make some decisions if one would need a sword, but can't because of the amount of sand. Another rule is that the glass cannot be larger then themselves and are dependent on their own skill how strong the glass can be. Red luminars are able to transmute sand into combustible powder by infusing red lumines into the sand, this allows them to create flames and explode sand but not larger then themselves. Meaning a red luminar cannot destroy a whole fortress with just a hand full of sand. Green luminars are able to conjure beings of sand or shape it into certain shapes by infusing green lumine into the sand. The size of it can be three times the users size, but the user cannot move while doing it. To be exact the beings or object they create are able to do more if the user sacrifices his/her movements. Like being able to create an arm of sand if the user offering one of their arms not to move. Yellow luminars are able enhance themselves by infusing yellow lumines into the sand and putting it on themselves making them able to obtain seismic sense, limiting the user to be able to use their eyes. They can even change their own voice. Limitatiosn still to be decided. Purple luminars are able to create illusions by infusing purple lumines into the sand, throwing it in the air. They can truly become masterminds in plots which is most of their character. orange luminars are able to infuse sand with orange lumines, creating magnetic pulls to bind objects. Cyan luminars are able infuse cyan lumines into sand giving the user the ability to push against the objects. Well this is my first post hope you like it, and I hope to update it soon. Please tell me your thoughts. Edit: I have changed the primary focus into sand and what sand can do. Be aware Luminars have the ability to stick sand to objects and to put a timer on the moment it ignites.
