I can understand a Human and Parshendi getting together somewhat. There is always some people out there that will be attracted to the strange. The Fused however I have a really hard time believing. These people have been fighting the same enemy for 7000 years. It's not like the Fused are being replaced each Desolation, its the same people. That type of dedication takes a special type of hate. Brandon did not do anything in the story to convince me that love for humans by the Fused was on the table. Grudging respect, yes. Weariness of the war, yes. But overcoming 7000 years of hate, no.

I remember seeing a WoB ages ago saying that Allomancers can burn piercings on there body the only reason they don't is because they don't think they can (good old perception). This got me thinking would the Allomancer perceive their piercings as one whole reservoir of power of desecrate units of each piercing? If the latter then this could potentially be a way of augmenting their power output.
When an Allomancer burns their metals they a doorway into the Spiritual Realm. Normally it doesn't matter how much metal they consume the burn rate is always the same. This is due to the metaphorical door being the same each time and the only thing that changes if the amount of time the door stays open. What I propose if that this is not a hard and fast rule but is in fact a perception limitation. If an Allomancer can perceive each individual metal as a discrete unit of power instead of lumped together as one then they should theoretically be able of open up a door for each metal the drastically increasing the amount of power flowing through them at one time. This would also have the drawback of drastically depleting ones reserves very quickly.
Note; All the metal in this theory is of the same kind.

This is what I don't get. The Dragons are said to be indestructible and that the manacles have this magical ability to sense attacks coming, but an ant was able to bite her. I small ant was able to pierce her skin which is meant to be indestructible. If an ant can pierce her skin I see no reason that a good old fashion axe can't just chop off her arm to get rid of the manacles.

You still need brain activity in order to burn something, just like how you need a brain to breath, even if you very rarely do it contiously.
If you compound you don't need the brain to be intact. Myles was able to blow his head off with a shotgun point blank in the face and was perfectly ok. The Lord ruler was rumored to survive being beheaded and from Myles's showings it is perfectly possible that he did.

Why? They descend from feruchemists and had no mundane population to breed into them.
they also had a thousand years of no Human (and so no Feruchemist) DNA and sDNA. When the Lord Ruler made Mistwraiths he created them with a spiritual and cognitive block to stop them from ever using the Metallic arts (namely Feruchemy). After a thousand years of breading with this block if turned back to human there is no guaranty that they would now be able to use the metallic arts. This is all moot though because if Harmony wanted them to be Feruchemists they will be Feruchemists.

Chapter Eighty - Part Two
Sazed Sees Mistwraiths
I worry that I didn't get to show mistwraiths very much in this book. It's not that big of an issue—they're only a minor world feature, and are only tangentially important. Still, they're a part of the kandra past and culture, and I want readers to understand what they are and what they have to do with the kandra life cycle.
Remember, all of the kandra save for the First Generation were born first as mistwraiths. That race of creatures breeds true, and has only a fifty-year lifespan. They die off, but birth new members. Taking one of those new members and adding spikes to them, however, awakens them and brings them sentience. They're part human, just like the koloss who remember having once been human.
From this we can concur that even if Harmony were to turn all the Mistwraiths backs to human they would not necessarily be Feruchemists. After all only the first generation were Feruchemists and the rest are a thousand years removed from those genes.

long exposure to Investiture will expand your soul. This is what lets beings linger in the Cognitive realm after they die. If you can expand your soul enough you will have the option stay permanently hence becoming a cognitive shadow.

I mean these are words written by the vessel that holds the power that created the world of Scadrial. I don't see how much more holy you can get. Just like the Bible or the Quran are holy because they were directed by the creator God of those respective religions.

Spren is the Rosharan word for all Cognitive entities. Seons are the same type of phenomenon as Spren (both being splinters of a Shard that has gained sentience). Seons however originate on Sel. Mraize called the Seon a Spren because it is the only word Rosharans have for that type of phenomenon.

Do we know that no, erm, “boinking” was involved? I think there was a recent WoB where Brandon implied that it kinda actually was.
Brandon simply says that he considers that all the people of Scadrial to be the children of both Ruin and Preservation since they both created them. Whether you consider that they they "boinked" to make is up to you. Brandon neither confirms nor denies. He says this on the recent spoiler stream at 1:52:30 if you want to check it out. Considering Harmony was able to create life on Scadrial without "boinking" himself I don't think they did. But they're shards. Maybe mixing their Investiture together is their form of "boinking."

I think at that point marsh had duraluminum too, so its possible he used that as well? Been awhile since I've read Era 1 but I remember inquisitors having incredibly strong alomancy.
The only way to get A-Duralumin for an Inquisitors at that point was to spike a Mistborn since they didn't know about Duralumin Mistings at that point. Ruin didn't like doing that because it was a huge waste of potential. He liked to turn Mistborn to his side either willingly or unwillingly by spiking them. I don't think Marsh ever had A-Duralumin during Era 1.

Yup, the shape of the metalmind doesn't matter, it doesn't need to be worn, though the Feruchemist does need Physical contact to access the metalmind, both to store & tap. Allomancers powerful enough to push or pull metalminds away no longer exist... even the instance we saw of this happening was a Mistborn drawing on the Mists, so this might not even be something that's possible without hacks. Perhaps a Lerasium Mistborn with Duralumin burst could achieve a similar feat. Mechanical Allomancy might also work.
We actually see this exact thing happen in WoA. Marsh pushes on Sazeds metlaminds. Both his copper bracers and his rings. I attribute these inconsistencies to Brandon not having all the rules of the Cosmere worked out at that point. After all the Inquisitors were using their spikes as Metalminds the entire time.

Thank you very much. Looking at the metals in relation to the spiritweb, I read somewhere that the metals act like a conduit for or preservations power and shapes it into the effect? Like a keyhole? My understanding is that savantism chips away at the keyhole, allowing more power to go through at the expense of control and being able to cut the flow through easily. Is this correct?
It is more like the soul changes shape to better allow the power to flow through it. Savants actually have far greater control of their power then non Savants. Again this is due to the Soul changing and adapting to better utilize the constant stream of Investiture flowing through it.

During the Era 1 Inquisitors were using their own spikes as Metalminds. Brandon has acknowledged that this causes problems in the canon because Investiture is suppose to resist other Investiture.

He is not changing the information inside the Metalmind. He is corrupting the information as it is being transferred from mind to Metalmind.
Questioner
In the Well of Ascension, Kwaan says that Ruin changed the words in the Feruchemists' metalminds. Ruin can't *inaudible* metal plates. I was wondering what the difference was?
Brandon Sanderson
Because they're in the person's head before they're going in the plates. And he can affect the power as it's transcribed between. Because the power is partially him, the Power of Creation of that world. So there is a bit of him inside of every person, and as the power is going from person into plate... It's kind of like how people can hack your phone through your wifi. Does that make sense? So, that's what's going on there.

So the magic that is split into many parts and regional b/c the shards are in the cognitive realm
was doing this BEFORE THE SHARDS WERE SPILNTERED!!!!!!
I am so very very confused
I mean you have the Shard of Dominion there, It makes sense to me. The Shard dictates how the magic is accessed. Having the literal embodiment of Dominion there means you would have to be apart of a specific domain to access a certain magic. The only thing that is up in the air is if you could use a regions magic everywhere on Sel without the power drop before the Splintering. If the answer is no then I am will be confused.

You've also got Teft's father. A religious zelot that thought live sacrifice and other atrocities would bring back the KR.

IIRC in Secret history
both Keliser and Ruin had their attention spread in multiple places at once with Ruin having the majority of his focus on Vin and Sazed at the same time. Also even when Leras was in his crippled state he said that he always met the souls of the dead before they went to the beyond. This would mean that throughout the entirety of FE, WoA and HoA leras was fighting Ruin helping our hero's and consoling the dead at the same time. From this I am also finding it hard to believe that Odium would send the entirety of his conscious mind to meet with Taravangium.

This makes the Sovereign’s Spearhead even more interesting...
How does that even work considering Allomancy is due to Connection to Preservation? You aren’t storing the Connection; that’s Duralumin...
Wait. Can a Fullborn make someone a Mistborn by storing their Connection to Preservation?!
Allomancy is not just about ones connection to the Shard of Presercation although it is a very big component of it. One must also have the right sDNA to access the power. In other words Innate Investiture. If you have a strong Connection with Preservation but do not have the right sDNA then you will not have access the the powers of Allomancy. F-Nicrocil in this case if not storing your Connection to Preservation but your Innate Investiture/sDNA that says you are an Allomancer of a particular metal.

Really? What event?
When Vasher and Vivenna rescue a girl that was being trafficked. The girl is understandably traumatized and Vasher said that he has a command that can fix that. He tells Vivenna walk out of hearing distance so we don't find out what he got the girl to say but Vivenna did sense the girls Breath flicker. When Vivenna came back the girl had forgotten the entire event and her trauma was gone.

I was under the impression you only would'nt be able to use allomancy/feruchemy while actively storing nicrosil and after releasing it the ability comes back. As in, it isn't a permanent thing because no other feruchemical attribute is permanent after storage
F-Nicrosil works like Copper Feruchemy. Copper works such that if you fill it with a memory something is permanently removed from the Feruchemist until he/she taps it latter. The same thing happens with Nicrosil. Once you store it is permanently removed from your system until you tap it again. So if you store your ability to use some other metallic art you sure as hell better not lose your Nicrosilmind.
Pagerunner
When you tap the nicrosil portion of a medallion, will it run out over time? Or is it like a coppermind, where something discrete is taken, used, and returned?
Brandon Sanderson
Good question! Like a coppermind.

When she was formless she was able to Soulcast just fine. She Soulcast the lock on Kalak's door easily saying that is was a no problem and that Shallan was just useless at it. So it's not that her ability to Soulcast is tied to Testament it's just that Shallan gave the ability to Soulcast to one of her alters.

From everything that we know you can't force someone to tap a metalmind. Someone has to Intend to tap for the investiture to flow through them. However if someone was already tapping their metalminds it is perfectly reasonable to assume that you could then Nicoburst them. This would result in them using up all their stored Investiture in whatever metal they were tapping at the time. If they were tapping health then they would now be extremely vulnerable.

How to augment your Mistborn powers without Leraslium
in Mistborn
Posted
In the first Book Vin couldn't tell the difference between the metals she had just ingested until Kelsier pointed that out to her. At that point the huge reservoir of power she sensed split into 8. This was due to being perception blocked. Just like how people thought that the Honor Blades needed ten heartbeats to summon. Perception plays a huge role in how one interacts with Investiture. Most steel and Iron Allomancers don't know that they can actually see trace metals in everything but they don't because 1.) there not skilled enough and 2.) they don't perceive stone and wood to have metal.
