    Thought shook her head. "It's part of what I am. I may not hold my Shard any longer, but... there's still something inside of me. Like when that officer from before targeted something at my mind. I was able to recognize it and resist."

    Thought nodded. "Alright. That's fine. Ah, the pleasures of mortality... I had no idea things were so bad."

    Thought leaned over to AJ. "Do they have something sweet? I want something sweet. I haven't really eaten since before I Ascended."

    Thought swallowed. She hadn't eaten a meal since her old life. "Soup," she said. "Whatever soup you have."

    Thought frowned. "I suppose so."

    Thought grabs her new toy and chuckles. "I'm sure you did."

    Thought blushed at the kiss and watched him go. She sat down at a table. I like you better mortal, he had said. She didn't quite know what to think about that. And... there was something else. Ever since they had entered Edopus she had had an unshakeable feeling that something was wrong.

    Thought shrugged. "Alright." She paused. "I need a weapon. A gun. As you said, a dueling cane can't do much when it comes to long-range weapons. And I hate having to stand back and watching things happen. If I was a Shard, none of this would be happening. And you would likely be dead..."

    Thought followed. "Who was that?"

    "Just keep calling me Thought. Or, storms, come up with a name. I don't really know who I am."

    "Tamika," Thought said. "But... That's not really me."

    "But why are we here? We're not staying, are we?"

    "I believe you. So why are we here?"

    Thought smiled. "We're dangerous too."

    Thought smiled genuinely and nodded. "As noble a reason as any." She turned to AJ. "You wanted to say something?"
