Between an individual that holds an honorblade (and presumably knows how to use its power to its fullest extent) and a Radiant of the 5th ideal, who has more power? Or are they roughly equivalent in what they could do? We know the Nahel Bond is a recreation of what the honorblades could do, but we also see an individual that has elected to both hold the honorblade and join their own order and be of the 5th ideal. Is this for compounding power? Understanding? Or did they realize one was stronger than the other?

I was just pondering if I were a worldhopper going to Roshar, would it be better in terms of raw power to attempt to bond a spren, or nab an honorblade? Also can a single person "wield" more than one honorblade? i.e. get access to all the surges??? If so that seems the obvious choice as multiple bonds to different spren doesn't seem as likely.

Honorblades have 2 distinct advantages over SB.

    1:No Oaths

2: They can fueled by their Shard. Limitless Investiture to fuel Surges. Can you imagine? Not Lashing rocks. Lashing buildings. Not "blocking" a High Storm. Steering it into the enemy. Not SoulCasting to repair the wall around Thaylena. Raising THE Wall from Game of Thrones.

I'm terrified of what Moash may end up doing.

Obeying an immortal crazy person is definitely not the best way to foster open dialogue, creative thinking and confidence in your own opinions. I'm actually beginning to be a little curious about those rare ones that attained the Fifth Ideal in the past. Did they have a break with Nale as well?

I'm of the opinion that 5th Oath SB were only around until Feverstone keep. IMO that was the reaction of the SB instead of renouncing all Oaths.

I think this is correct. As long as you are storing as much heat as the fire is adding, you won't burn; but it won't protect you from smoke inhalation and anything else that isn't directly heat-related. It would probably keep the sunlight at the end of Hero of Ages from setting you on fire, but any exposed skin would still sunburn, since that's a UV light effect rather than caused by heat.

Let's not forget that fire and heat are 2 different things either. Fire produces heat, yes, but its a chemical reaction and not an atribute that can be stored. I'm not sure even a fire ferring would be immune to the effects of standing in a fire. They'd be able to store plenty of heat but they'd also be burning just the same.

I do not think so. He wears white because it is the Parshendi who hired him. They think that an assassins should wear white so the victim has a fair warning.  Hope this helps!

I wonder where that tradition ever came from anyway. I don't see the listeners killing each other off much in the last thousand +years, and I definitely don't see that being the case during desolations.

  5. Another thread about bonding multiple spren sparked a question in my mid that I should have asked after the AoL. The Lord Ruler was a full feruchemist and a mistborn. Theoretically he has at least 16 Resonances. Not only do we not have a clue what 93% of those are, do you suppose that his Resonances have blended to create something brand new and unique? Anyone care to theorize what that could be?

I think that only worked when Honor was actually alive. The trapped soul of a Herald might have other applications though (a Herald is a Cognitive Shadow, which are apparently basically spren on Roshar, so a Herald soul in a gem might work for a fabrial).

I think the identification of Jezrien with the Stormfather is just folk mythology* that has built up over thousands of years without the Heralds around. He was a Windrunner, but that was due to his Honorblade. (And without the direct feed from Honor, it's less efficient than a true KR Windrunner's powers.) So I don't think Vyre will get any special storm powers beyond what he gets from the Honorblade - the same powers Szeth had in WOK/WOR.

*The ardentia don't seem to believe it, given the way they react to Dalinar and Navani's decision to have the Stormfather marry them - if they thought he was the chief Herald, they would recognize him as a source of religious authority.

We have proof via Bands of Mourning that Shardic magic systems can be hacked by another Shard, I see no legitimate reason why Odium couldn't do .the same. Jezrien being knownn as the Stormfather is definitely a matter of Mythology; I however point out that he alone of the Heralds gathered this misnomer title. To me that is indicative of an event or events that stuck in he minds of the people.

Finally Vyre won't gain any special "storm powers". He has access to the Wind Runner Surges and, as you agreed, the honorblade can be fed Investiture directly. By who, for who are the only things up for interpretation.

  7. My very real concern about Vyre is Odium. There is a WoB floating around that the Herald's Surges were powered directly by Honor, now Vyre is in control of that conduit of limitless Investiture. Even if it's not Stormlight, Voidlight appears to serve as an analog.

Jezrien has been known as the Stormfather for a very long time.

I have a sinking feeling we're going to see what happens when one decides to create a super low pressure system above Azir or another populated city. Anything from suffucating a city to redirecting highstorms to massive decompression effects are possible. It'll be Ashyn written small all over again. Don't get me started on Gravitation; I'm not ready for that.

  8. Whew. I feel like every Sanderson book has it's wow moment. Prof crushing allies. The birth of Harmony. Larimar's confession to Lightsong still makes me tear up, years after reading it the first time.

The obliterating moment though? Wax and Lessie on the roof. I denied it, right up to her last words, and couldn't read a thing for a week afterwords.

Also Breeze/Wax.  There are a lot of descendants of characters from Era 1 running around.  I feel like if there was a correlation it would have been noticed.

Per AoL they know  exactly  who everyone (Noble born at least) is, how they're related, whatever allowmancy\feruchemy they have. The Set is using this info for nefarious purposes.

And we once again arrive at my, "Scandrians will become the Cosmere equivalent to Kryptonians" theory. Eventually, they'll figure out a way to make more fullborn medallions, and from there they spread out to space and become legends. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part because I'm a massive comic nerd, but I think it's going to happen.

Also, as for a fullborn in space. I don't know if this would work due to the way iron conserves momentum, but could they store weight, push off a piece of metal, tap weight, pull that piece of metal back, and actually have moved forward? Because if so they'd also have a reliable method for moving in weightless environments.

Edit: I should clarify, I know they wouldn't decelerate in space after an initial push, but I'm specifically thinking about wether or not they could build up speed or change direction without needing multiple pieces of metal.

That's a good idea, but Feruchemical iron doesn't deal with matter density. I know it makes sense to think of it that way, but it actually warps the spiritual connection to the planet your on. In a weighless environment, ie space, I have major doubts as to wether or not Feruchemical iron will function the same or at all.

I don't think the earring will bother them too much. They won't like it, for sure, but I think most of them would be okay with it, esp if they understand it's current context.

I have to disagree. Syl repeatedly remarks about Adolin swinging Maya around,  and never in a good way. I can easily imagine her disgust if Kaladin had put a Spike in. The nahelbond is intimate in such a way that the Spren bonds with the soul, and would in all likelihood reject the Spike and it's foreign spiritual-dna. Anyway just my 2 chips.

Timbre is not "bound" to Venli in the same manner as a spren she bonds for a form.

If anything, I think timbres ability to enter her gemheart would be liable to give her abilities that a human Radiant would lack, not less.

Why would she gain more? The nahelbond grants Surges, and a resonance, but I see no reason why venli's would  be different than a humans.

Why even mimic? Kal has said he didn't need to renew his lashings when he lashed things in front of the storm so he could just lash the ship and it could ride the front of the stormwall forever.

You usually want to land at some point...I don't envy whoever is landing the airship and scrambling for cover, since he Highstorm is right there.

I think the issue here is one of timeline.  The Sibling powers Urithiru, or at least this was very strongly implied in OB.  In fact, the entire design of the tower is based around this power source.  If the Sibling relies on Mankind's coherence, it would not make sense to use Urithiru as the HQ of the Knights Radiant through the Desolations.  As the Desolations progressed, the HQ would get weaker and less functional when it was most needed.  This seems very counterintuitive from a military standpoint.  I do like that you are asking the question of whose Sibling it is.

Counter argument: are you an Earthling or (Country of Origin)?

It's entirely possible, storm it plausible, that the early Roshar refugees viewed themselves as one people. Even during the Epoch's the human species was connected in ways modern Roshar only dreams about.

To quote Caesar "Men work more zealously against a common foe, than for their common good".

As long as the threat of Desolation and Listener's existed, Mankind was unified, as was the Sibling. When the Silver kingdoms broke down, so did the Sibling.

I've seen plenty theorizing about the Sibling being Urithiru. Nothing like this, total pivoted for OP.
