@JemmaMYoung, I love your artwork of Shallan and the Cryptic’s. It is excellent! Have you done any artwork of Lift eating pancakes?

@Shallan314, I agree with you. I love every minute of the Stormlight Archive. What was your favorite part/book?
I personally like kalladin’s journey as a bridge-man and his growing relationship with Syl. I guess that makes my favorite book from the series the Way of Kings.

It is a big commitment, but it is also worth it. I didn't read them all straight through, I found it easy enough to come back and remember the main points of the previous books after reading something else.
I can't get my wife to read the books I like. I just want to share the things I love with her. I am a huge sci-fi and fantasy reader and she only likes reading non-fiction and an occasional young adult novel. What can you do.
Another series I highly recommend is the Darker Shade of Magic series by V.E. Schwab. I thought the characters had good depth and the writing wasn't repetitive.

@Grishhammer, I'd be interested in what you would think of the Wheel of Time series. Have you tried it yet? I loved Robert Jordon/Brandon Sanderson's 14 book series, I thought the characters were interesting and the story had a lot of depth. I know there are people out there who didn't like it as much but I thought it was fantastic. That being my humble opinion. We all like and dislike certain things in books/Authors.

I've been a Sanderson fan for several years now and somehow I have still not read the Rithmatist. I got the digital version narrated by Michael Kramer. It's pretty great so far. It only cost's $7.00 on audible right now. I can't help but get the audio versions of these books, they are so fantastic and allow me to enjoy the books while in the car or doing chores. I highly recommend it.
Welcome to the forum @Grishhammer, what are some of the series that you couldn't get through?

Thanks @Mistspren, that was a huge help.

I agree that the Stormlight Archive is the best. My favorite character is Kaladin as well. My second favorite character is Lift. She is hilarious and mysterious at the same time.
What I want to know from all of you experienced forum goers is how do you make the name thingy show up. I copy and paste someones user name in my posts but can't make them look like the black reverse type name like it is below. How is it done?
40 minutes ago, I am Witless said:@deacon, it took me FOREVER to find the quote button. Good for you for getting so technologically advanced so soon! Do you like crustaceans in general, or just crabs? And do you like spiders?

The Wheel of Time series is my favorite book series coming about equal the the Stormlight Archive. I loved every minute of it. I agree with Ammanas, I think you should read the first book and see if you like it. I was very much like you when I first started the series. I hadn't read many other books and I had the desire to really get into reading. When I read the first book I was daunted by the size but fell in love with the characters. I couldn't put the books down after that. See what you think about the first book and make sure you let us know what you think.

I am currently listening to Warbreaker. I think it is fantastic so far. I have read the other books you listed and thought they were great as well. I would suggest reading Warbreaker or Elantris before the Mistborn trilogy. I say that because I found it difficult to get through the last 2 Mistborn books. They were kind of dry for my taste. Warbreaker does have elements that expand the Stormlight Archive but they are not necessary to enjoy Brandon's other books. He says that he tries to make each book(series) enjoyable as a stand alone story without needing to read his other books. Welcome to the forum.

My first Sanderson book was Mistborn. I really enjoyed the book but didn't read another for a year or so until I came across the Way of Kings. The Way of Kings is what really got me into his books. Welcome to the forum.

Granted. you will never be cursed. But for your bane you will never have any extremely good luck either.
I wish to bond an unmade, as a radiant spren.
A bane is included as a curse. Asking the night watcher to not curse me would mean that it is a wash.

Brandon doesn't have any time to put together a cookbook. I would rather him spend his time doing what he does best. That is writing awesome fiction. There is quite a long list of food items described in Brandon's books. Putting a cookbook together would be awesome.
I imagine these pancakes to be crepes with different filling inside, or does lift just roll them up as she's running about.

There are a lot of similarities between covenants and oaths in the Stormlight Archive. Especially since a covenant is a promise made between man and God, where we are the only ones able to break our promise. It is the same with Spren in the case of the Stormlight Archive. Only the human can mess things up. We see this with Kaladin in the Way of Kings. Its cool to have an excellent fantasy writer who is LDS. I find his writing very exciting.
What is the graphic audio version?

I appreciate that. I will try to make some quality posts going forward. Thank you to everyone who felt bad for me and gave me likes, I'm not a spren anymore!
Archer, I like your footnote thing, that's some good advice.

I would rather try the horneater stew, minus the bits of shell. I am new to the forum as well and am not sure how things work yet. All I know is that I don't want to be a spren anymore, I think adding more comments increases your rank.
I met Brandon Sanderson before I got into the series. I had him sign a copy of Mistborn for my dad, I am kicking myself that I didn't get a couple other books signed for myself. I have read almost every one of his books since. The Stormlight Archive is my favorite, Kaladin's journey as a Bridgman really resonates with me for some reason.
Welcome to the forum and good luck.

You know when you’re a Sanderson fan when you have the paper back, hard back, audio book, and digital copy of the Way of Kings. I love that series. It’s always awesome listening to the audio book after reading a book series. It really opens up the story for me and gives the characters more life. I can also listen while doing dumb things like doing the dishes or painting a wall. I think I’ve read/listened to the way of kings 4 times now.

I recommend reading the Darker Shade of Magic series by V E Schwab. This series was excellent. It’s not often that a book really grabs me and pulls me in but this series did that for me. I am also always looking for a good book to read. Thanks for starting this chain.

I loved every minute of the Wheel of Time series. I like reading through a good thick book. These books are long but descriptive. I wouldn't change a single thing. The nice thing about the books is that you can go at your own pace. I felt like it was easy to switch to a different book and then come back.
My favorite characters were actually Matt and Nynaeve. I liked that they had funny quirks like nynaeve tugging on her braid or Matt being such a rascal. I don't want to give away any spoilers but my advice would be to give the Eye of the World a shot to see if you like it. Good luck!

I am a huge board game buff but this game looked overly complicated. I also love the Reckoner series. To gain traction you need a game that is easy to learn and fun to play. I hope they can make that happen.

I love the idea of writing and I have a few ideas of stories. I haven't really gotten further than writing a synopsis or two of the story's I want to write. Its hard to know where to start. My plan is to practice my writing skills in these forums and hopefully get some inspiration.

Sure. Just now you have a lisp so bad that no one can understand you.
For my boon, I ask to be turned into a Mistborn. (I'd ask to be a radiant, but none of those powers seem like they'd be useful in my everyday life. Also I don't have a way of getting stormlight.)
You are now a mistborn but you are cursed with vertigo.
For my boon I would ask to never be cursed.

I think Oathbringer is great but my favorite book was The Way of Kings. You can't beat Kaladin's journey as a bridgeman. There is something about coming up from nothing to become something great that really resonates with me. I hope you enjoy your experience in the forum. Good luck.

I can't really say welcome to the group since you got here first. I also love the Stormlight Archive. My favorite character is lift. She is scrappy, hilarious and mysterious. I also love playing my Nintendo Switch. Zelda is fantastic but I like Mario Odyssey better.
PS. I hope no one offers me cookies.
