  1. What is Odium doing on Roshar? He seems to be bent on destroying everything on Roshar (the everstorm from Dalinar's visions). That is very unlike him if we consider that on Sel he was content with just splintering the shards and killing their holders. And even if he for some twisted reason wants to destroy Roshar, what is stopping him?? A little vague and slightly off topic but I think this is relevant to explain his "brokenness".
  2. I read somewhere in the forum that each of the order of Knight Radiants had two magical abilities and that each of those powers was shared with one other order. That makes 10 powers total. That means that the powers can combine only in specific ways in an individual. Do we know why this is? Why only two? Is it possible to have all the possible combinations in a non-radiant individual? In other words is this magical "class restriction" applicable only to KRs or is it a universal rule? A related question, are Shallan and Jasnah of the same order of knight radiants? (I am assuming their abilities are related to knight radiants)If yes then why does Jasnah not have her abilities to capture memories?
  3. I think shallans abilities are not related to her soulcasting or any of the other 9 of the radiants' powers.....I say this because the "truth spren" (or whatever spren with the symbol heads) do not seem to recognize what Shallan is doing...You would think theory would know if it were related to what the radiants did... Brandon said there were going to be more than 30 magical systems on roshar....maybe this is one of them. Maybe you are right....it could be of cultivation.
  4. Thats an amazing theory, Elwyn! I completely agree with you, but if you remember the story of Derethil, you will notice that the people feared the Emperor. Its almost as if they are scared of some terrible punishment. That does not seem to be an appropriate representation of Honor. But that could be because its just a story, a metaphor....
  5. Possible....but the "10" theme is overpowering on Roshar. 10 heralds, 10 orders of Radiants, 10 essences, 10 Silver Kigndoms, 10 princedoms of Alethkar. Its not just limited to the magic system like in Mistborn.
  6. I think there is one more possible explanation for this 10-16 problem. The worlds on which 10 seems to be the theme are Nalthis and Roshar, on both worlds we have the presence of splintered shards (or another interpretation is worlds on which Odium has visited.) While unsplintered shards result in the original 16 based theme as is seen on Scadrial. Sel is still a bit of a problem, but we don't know either way what its number theme is.But if you notice the "map progression" post on Brandon's blog, there are 10 named nations. (I do know thats bit of a long shot but well it was the best I could come up with)
  7. I think you are right about the story having some significance but I most certainly do not think Odium is dead...... If he were "dead" as in splintered, then the everstorm would not be approaching, the letter writer should not be worried and Tanavast/cultivation would most certainley have seen it. But if he were "dead" as in Ati/Leras dead, then it would not matter, the shards intent would corrupt the new holder just the same.
  8. I think Highstorms are of Odium. Why? Epigraph of Ch.35.Also, Alethkar is also in the east closest to the origin (along with natanatan). It was also the home of the radiants who protected from desolations.....it would make sense for them to be closest to Odium, the shield that protects other kingdoms. It would seem Honor was westward......closest to Shin where things are more "normal". Also High storms get stronger the closer we get to desolation (I can't find the quote for that, but it is there in the book) It would seem the highstorms arising from the origin cannot be of honor.....but that does not make much sense as Dalinar seems Tanavast only during highstorms and Kaladin also rides the highstorms. Highstorm rain is also fertile.....so it could be of cultivation?? There is one explanation that has been discussed a lot......and makes sense. Highstorms are Odium's destructive power but are being tempered and its destructive power mitigated by cultivation and honors power. That would explain fertile crem and also explain honors location. That leads to interesting questions about stormlight...It is obviously related to highstorms but does that make it Odium's power?? That is a very unsatisfactory explanation.
