Hail, fellow 17th shardians! So, I'm not sure if someone has posted this yet, but I realized something as I was skimming through the end of Oathbringer. I looked upon page 1136 and found a quote when Dalinar smashes all of everything together. After he did that a parshwoman asks who he is. He responds with "I am Unity". An important thing to note for this theory is that every shard has its name capitalized. Preservation, Ruin, Harmony, Odium, Honor, Cultivation, etc. Noting this, and seeing how Unity is also capitalized, and how Odium has begun to fear Dalinar, I think that Dalinar will take up the shard, should it exist, of Unity. I dont really know how it would work very well, but maybe Dalinar would take up Honor first, which is more obvious with the fact that he summoned that perpendicularity. I'm not entirely sure, though, if it will be a combination of Honor and something else, or if it is an entirely different shard. That is about as much as i could find regarding this theory. Please leave criticisms or other supporting facts, if you could. That would be nice.

I think that makes sense. On Sel we know of a few ways to access the Dor. There is AonDor, Dakhor, and ChayShan in Elantris. Then there is also Forgery and Blood Sealing. Since we know that Dominion and Devotion both were there before they were killed, it makes it a bit difficult to ascribe numbers to them, but we can be fairly certain that they are at least in the first five.

Thank you for clarifying that BlackYeti. So we can't really determine very much of how White Sand's Investiture works very much then, since it could go either way of learning and mastering it or if it is just family genetics. Edit: I just searched Arcanum for any WoB about Sand Mastery and genetics. I couldn't find anything.

I would probably take up the shard Ruin. I have always felt like Ruin is a nice simple shard who just wants to end everything.

Hello all! This is the first theory I have posted, so forgive me if I format things incorrectly or if this theory has already been posted before. Also there are spoilers for Oathbringer, so be ye wary if you haven't read it yet. Whilst skimming the book after having read it my first time, I found myself reading one of Hoid's little bits with Shallan in Kholinar. On page 676, Shallan notices that Hoid has a small sealed jar that was mostly black, but with a white part facing her. (Let me be plain here. I have scoured the Coppermind wiki a lot on the topic of Hoid so I'm mostly just reaffirming what I read there, forgive me if this information is already known by you fellow 17th Sharders.) I remember reading in Warbreaker Hoid telling Siri and Lightsong a story. In this story he used sand that could transform from white to black. Since we know that there is a sand based power on Taldain, this leads me to believe that Hoid must have gone there and learned sand mastery. This makes me wonder if Hoid has plans to use sand sometime in the SA series. While I must admit that I am uncertain about how sand mastery works, we do know that Investiture can be "replaced" (Stormlight can fulfill the need for Breath, as we see with Nightblood on Roshar.) This makes me wonder if you could use Stormlight to re-energize sand that has been used, or if you can draw upon the Investiture stored within the sand. I hope you all will understand this balderdash. I also hope that you can leave behind some helpful insight to help me understand more the integration between Invested magics. As I mentioned this is my first thing I have posted, so forgive me if it isn't strung together well.

I always thought the reason for Odium's staying in the Roshar system was because he is Invested in it, specifically on Braize. Wasn't that also the reason Ruin couldn't leave Scadrial until the planet was destroyed, thus breaking off the Investment in the Realms? Sorry if that didn't make much sense
