  1. I'm so glad lots of people mentioned Sword of Truth... I friggin held out until book 8 then I started reading book 9 (Chainfire) and holy hell is Richard just the most one dimensional, preaching, patronising hero there is. He's quite literally got no flaws! And Kahlan does whatever Richard says even though, you know, she's THE Confessor. The amount of crap that Goodkind put the less fortunate through (including Jensen and others like her) is just ridiculous.

But only 3 more books you say? Well, screw that.

  2. Did Hoid muddle with Taln's mind? Maybe made him think that he was at another time? (hence the ancient Alethi accent)

Or otherwise someone is sedating him hardcore that he was pretty much not there. The Taln that appear in the epilogue of WoK was fairly articulate.

  3. Adolin's actions most definitely would throw a wrench into Dalinar's position. As it Dalinar IS the Alethi king in all but name, so a death in a city during routine patrol will fall squarely in his responsibility. I'm guessing that Renarin's power might foresee (or have already foreseen) something that connects Adolin with Sadeas' murder, so that would also kickstart their conflict. Paranoid!Adolin would be a welcome change from his rather spoilt personality so far.

Szeth's gonna go ballistic at his old Shin masters. Though I'm sure they had a trick up their sleeves to explain why he was made Truthless. Hopefully Szeth's sense of self is strong enough to contain Nightblood from wanting to kill everyone.

Kaladin's gonna have a bit of issue coming home with light eyes. Maybe his family would be uncertain? Though I don't imagine Kaladin acting any differently to his parents. Bonus point: He starts ordering Roshone around since he's now got a Shardblade AND very very light eyes which makes him possibly several rung higher in dahn than Roshone. Better yet if Elhokar gives him a letter that states his ranking. Hopefully he meets Jasnah and Hoid because a meeting between these 3 crazy people are overdue. Also Jasnah will be able to tell him more about Spren theories, and maybe Syl can also meet Ivory.

Shin has no mountain on the West, and therefore will have a tough time with the Everstorm. If Nightwatcher is the uvber Cultivation-spren though, perhaps we might see some pure Cultivation power being utilised to save the nation?

Elhokar will either step down or crown Dalinar King Regent. I think after the last convo with Kal he might be more open to the idea that he's got shitton to learn before he can be a good King. I would also wager that due to the Riots in Kholinar we might finally see his wife.

Shallan will be helping Dalinar and Navani as their right hand woman. By night she goes around as Veil. I'm expecting her to not leave Urithiru for a while, or if she does it won't be on a prolonged adventure.

  4. I'm hoping for Jasnah and Hoid. They've already totally got a connection (even if it's somewhat businesslike). Jasnah as a worldhopper would be the best thing ever.

Aww yes another person in the Jasnoid camp! That epilogue is all kinds of epic "Did they-" "Yes" "Did he-" "Yes" "Do we need to=" "Sure do!"

Can't wait for someone to write "Jasnah and Hoid - There and Back Again"

  5. One of the biggest issues that I see with Kaladin and Shallan, though, is that I think that he still has a LOOOOOOONG way to go before being able to be in a relationship with a lighteyes. He still has a deep seated mistrust and prejudice towards lighteyes in general. He even has his difficulties trusting Dalinar, despite his own desire to do so. He's improved, but he's nowhere near ready yet. It would take until the second set at least for it to be believable, and that would make them considerably older.

That would put them almost smack-bang in the Navani/Dalinar comparison too. Navani was frightened of him, and she dared not approach Dalinar pretty much until the point where she was sure he'd changed.

Also people do love Navani/Dalinar, why is a very slow burning Shalladin suddenly not a good relationship to come true as well?

  6. Since the quote related to Taln, I always thought Reya was someone who might've been closed to the Heralds but not specifically Cultivation.I do like the idea that Rhysa is Cultivation's name - just so I can make the connection of Rhysadium = over-cultivated horse :D

  7. Hoid is like everyone's crazy uncle that pops in unannounced, acts younger than he actually is, insults everyone, gives out predictions on who's gonna die next, impart strange stories that make no sense, give you gifts that are seemingly useless, hugs all his relatives in an awkward "I've not seen you in years for a reason" kind of way and everyone has at some point noticed him talking to the candelabra.

    I support Hoid X Everyone/Everything.

  8. I'm pretty sure Shardpools are smaller than that. However, the locals do make a point of steering people away from the center, so it could be in the Purelake

Ooh I like this theory. What if it was actually a separate pool, that's kind of overflown into this very shallow basin and created the Purelake?

Totally unsupported, but I just like the idea of it being a very diluted shardpool where magical things happen, haha.

  9. Returned forget everything that happened before their death.

Very good point you have there. I've honestly forgotten about that one. I do however have this question:

Can Heralds properly die after they broke their Oathpact? Heralds were only roaming the world during the Desolations, and if they died they got sent back to Damnation until the next Deso-cycle rocks up. That was part of the deal. I suppose there is no precedent for the oath breaking. This was why I was cautious about Vasher being an ex-Herald.

    Thoughts anyone?

  10. I don't buy it simply because in his interlude, Vasher made no mention of the desolation whatsoever, or even referenced any of the Heralds. He even mentioned the Highstorms as "one of those storms", as if he isn't used to it at all (he probably would've if he was a Herald). I know there's nothing explicitly mentioned that he wasn't a Herald, but based on his current state of being, it's really not apparent in the slightest that he could've been one.

  11. I would agree that Hoid took the Honorblade. From the sound of it, no one else knew the innate difference between an Honorblade and regular Shardblade save for Kal/Syl, another Herald, or that annoying sharp faced man. Makes no sense if the Kholinar force exchanged the madman's blade for another one.

  12. He isn't going bad, as in turning evil. I believe that he will be more secretive and maybe a bit paranoid. The whole point of Dalinar's war campaign was to have the moral highground over the other Highprinces. Well, Adolin's action just undermined everything that his dad worked for. It would be awesome if Adolin is the 'evil prince', but even if he isn't he's still gonna have a whole lot of issues to go through.

  13. If Shallan and Adolin get together now, it would be for all the wrong reasons. Adolin just wanted a girl that wasn't complicated, but he has yet to actively pry Shallan's outward persona open (while Kaladin sure did). Adolin has a lot of maturing to do before he will ever get with Shallan. Similarly Shallan wanted Adolin's connection to save her family. Though now that she is part of the Ghostbloods I dunno how this aspect would play out.

They both like each other in a friends, maybe more sort of way. But until they actually figure out WHY they want to be with the other one, I don't see it happening. Especially because their story I think is diverging fast.

There was a much more natural connection between Kal and Shallan, shared pain and all that. And that's why I believe in this one a lot more, because in a relationship you shouldn't be fake to each other.
