Actually, one of my profs, back when I was a bio student, participated in a contest to see which of the three of them could grow the longest tapeworm. They infected themselves on New Year's Day--I don't believe their spouses knew about this--and took the proper medication at some agreed-upon time--before they started shedding eggs.
As I recall, he never told us which prof won, which tells me it wasn't him....
