  1. I tried to go back and just browse the old threads. I say tried because I ended up reading for around 45 minutes. Good times were had in the Coalition. Although admittedly patrol duty in the woodlands was pretty boring on occasion. The snowboarding may have been reckless but I stand by my decision to partake. Arbiter huh? Well That role seems fitting. The sad thing is these other sad posters wont bother even posting, let alone have any sort of grievance for you to be arbiter of. Makes me wonder. . . kind of like being a judge of nothing. Sounds fulfilling. I actually think that being a Darkeyes isn't too bad. I mean I could be a renegade soldier or "mercenary". I seem to remember having some experience in such things. Well seeing as how we were once part of the Woodland Coalition together I don't expect any basking from you. Everyone else on the other hand. . . Oh and look at Chaos getting all important and stuff. I would be impressed but I somehow cant see to muster the ability. Good to be back. These titles have renewed my drive and perhaps we can whip this sorry lot into creating some entertaining posting. Also helps that I picked up Word of Radiance and had to check things out back here.
  2. It appears this thread isnt nearly as popular as I had hoped. Apparently a lowly Darkeyes like me can just strut right in and own the place. Well if thats the case then everyone from the apparently highly ranked "kandra" (who I assume are fairly weak and un threatening) to the "spren" (who as we all know are easily frightened little pests) can just sit back and bask in my glory.
  3. Well this is interesting. Quite possibly one of the main reasons I loved TWG and here it is in all its glory. Well a shadow of that glory at least. Anyway, I think I will partake. I may be lowly and feeble now but we shall see for how long.
  4. I rarely post if ever but some of you may know me. Anyway Brandon's doing a signing in some small town in New Hampshire and Im making the trek out there. Was wondering if any other New Englanders were making the trip also. I'm excited to finally get a chance to meet him and seeing as how its a tip from south of Boston where I am, I will have to be grabbing dinner/late lunch in town and wouldn't mind meeting any other Sanderson enthusiasts.
  5. Ok so I may seem like a new guy here but I have been around since TWG. I'm not saying that for any other reason than to establish a little credibility. So I'm now asking for what your favorite book is. I have never really been able to nail this one down myself but I realized recently that I have one that stands alone. I know most people don't and will have a hard time explaining their favorite so lets try putting the top three for us. Its really hard but worth it. So here is my top book. Faith of the Fallen Now I read this series (Sword of Truth)as one of my first real epic fantasy series. Before I read WOT and even knew who Brandon was. That's not justification though. I found that by the end of the series Gookind lost his way and tended to fix his complex plots with last minute fix all magic that really had no basis in the plot until the final plot arc. They seem to come out of nowhere and your left dumbfounded. It tends to rub you the wrong way because it seems like the easy way out. Not only that but the Chainfire trilogy was infuriating to say the least. Back to Faith of the Fallen. I cant say enough about this book. I have noticed in the past that Goodkind has been criticized for being too preachy. I can see where that comes from but this book is so strong in its message that I feel a connection to it. I have recently finished a re-read of it and I am still awe-struck with its message and its ability to captivate me even though I've read it four times in the past. I can not get past how it makes me feel and that fact alone is enough to put it number one on my list. I love Brandon's books and I have others who I love as well and to be honest, Goodkind isn't in my top three authors but this book kills me down to my last fiber. What is your favorite/top three?
  6. Its good to be here Eerongal. You can imagine my displeasure when I clicked on my link to TWG and found the hacked message. As much as I missed talking about the mistborn trilogy as it was written, I found that I missed messing around on this thread with all of you just as much. There were so many good times on that thread. There was a battle for a while when it was either Chaos or myself as mercenaries with followers just talking crap as we leveled and our titles changed. Just good clean imaginative fun for no other reason than just to have fun. There were a lot of other people who were staples on that thread and hopefully they find their way over here if they havent already. This site is impressive in comparison to the old one. Im pleased with the look and general layout and the old friends. It may be unrealistic to have another random title generator added to everything else that is going on with this site. I realize that there is probably a lot more work involved with this site and adding more to the plate would be asking a lot. Ryan- With everything I just said taken into consideration. I am not saying that I wouldnt love to see the titles, because trust me I would. Im just saying that as much as I would love it, Its understandable if it doesnt happen. Chaos- Be aware that if this were ever to happen. . . I would be coming for you.
  7. I wanted to take this oppertunity to acknowledge the loss of one of the better ways to kill time on TWG. Aside from gross speculation on what every detail means in any of the series Brandon is working on at any given time, we sometimes needed a thread to generally have fun with eachother. "These Crazy Titles" was that thread. There were so many amusing situations we came up with during that threads time. I remember battles and randomly occuring hilarity. Anyone who found themselves on this thread at anytime knows what it is that we lost when the TWG and random title generator died. Rest in peace "These Crazy Titles"
  8. I see that I have read a lot of the above suggested books. There were a few mentioned that I am going to look into but I was surprised when I didnt come accross Peter V. Brett's name in the discussion. It may have been mentioned and I just missed it but just in case. The Warded Man aka (The Painted Man accross the world), is book one in an apparent trilogy named The Demon Cycle. I found this book at the same time that I read The Name of The Wind and The First Law Trilogy. Although The Name Of The Wind was clearly the better of those books, I feel that The Warded Man is a great read. It has a follow up book named Desert Spear and I was very happy with both books. I suggest people should look into these books and as far as the third book, it is yet unmentioned as far as I know but the storyline isnt finished.
  9. Happy to get involved in this thread. Read and really enjoyed both books. Egarly anticipating the next/final installment. I cant get over the use of music in this trilogy. I have never been a huge fan of music. Dont get me wrong, I like music but I never really need it. If I didnt hear music for a month I dont think I would even notice the absence. Reading these books made me feel like I needed music. Made me feel like I knew what it was like to be in love with music. I will leave the theorizing to everyone else until I have more time to catch up on the existing theories.
  10. Just read this post. Should have browsed before I posted. Im a little more interested after seeing this
  11. As much as I dont generally read Stephen King. I just picked up 11/22/63, the new historical fiction book on time travel and stopping JFKs assasination. Havent started it as of yet but Im hearing some ok things so far. Will update when I finish it.
  12. This one is easy. I was turned on to Brandon's material when I got a text message from my brother about the Passing of Robert Jordan. I was upset to say the least and I followed news on the topic of the Wheel of Time until Brandon was announced to finish the series. I then found anything he had written and read all of it falling in love with his writing style and characters, not to mention his world building. As horrible as RJ's passing was, I am thankful to have found Brandon as a result.
  13. Well. . . I like the new site. I see you have come a long way Chaos. Its gonna take me a while to catch up on how this site works and the content but I look forward to getting back into things.
