It is taken as a given at this point that Shardplate is composed of lesser Spren. Anyone who's spent any time in the OB channel on Discord recently is well aware that I have an issue with this. So I want to put together all of the options as I see them for Shardplate, and the problems with each.

I’m sorry this is off topic, but I keep seeing people mention the discord... how would I go about finding a link to join?

    You misunderstand.

If a nicrosil compounder holds any medallion that grants any power, they can store that power for a moment, and then burn that to make their own storage keyed to them.

In the upcoming era of comodified powers via medallions, a nicrosil compounder, or even a Ferring if it can find a nicroburst medallion, needs only hold each individual power for a few seconds in order to gain that power permanently.

They wouldn't gain them all at the in the same moment, but eventually as long as they have nicrosil for personal storage, they can make their own Bands, keyed to them.

    It's a perfectly valid concern.

Perhaps this is how there’s gonna be “mistborn” in Era 3...

    Brilliant!

I'm going to do some with the symbols of the planets, the Cosmere, and some aons. I've already done the orders of the Knights Radiant. I did post it on here several pages ago.

Note: I TRACED ALL OF THESE! I DID NOT FREEHAND! Or safehand. Fortunately.

Woahh those are amazing!! And even if you didn't freehand that doesn't make it less impressive. Some of us (totally not referencing myself. Totally) can't even draw properly when we trace

When doctors suck and don't know how to diagnose my illness so I decide that it's from Ashyn and I just haven't figured out how to use my powers yet

  5. When you change the words of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer to Kaladin the stormblessed bridgeman:

    (possible spoilers?)

    Spoiler

You know Vasher and Dalinar and Szeth and Vivenna

Amaram and Roashone and Gaz and Elhokar

    But do you recall,

The most stormblessed Bridgeman of all?

    Kaladin the stormbless bridgeman (bridgeman)

    Had a very shiny sphere!

And if you ever saw him

    (saw him)

You would even say he glows

    (like the lopen!)

    All of the other bridgemen

    (bridgemen)

Used to laugh and call him names

    (Like The radiants!)

    They never let poor Kaladin

    (Kaladin)

    Join in any lighteyes games!

    Then one stormy highstorm night

    The stormfather came to say

    (In the storm front!)

    Kaladin with your inhaled stormlight

Won't you join the Alethi's fight

Then how the bridgemen loved him

    (loved him)

As they shouted out with glee "Bridge four!"

    Kaladin the stormblessed bridgeman,

    You'll go down in history!

    (Just like Nohadon!)

Edit: and the third ideal bit kills it too. Taravangian isn't going to change his methods. He believes that the humans cannot beat Odium. The Diagram is right and he must make any sacrifice necessary in order to insure humanity survives.

In his viewpoint, everything is going as it should. There's no reason to change.

This may be true about the third ideal but only as Dalinar spoke it. We already know that the oaths leave room for interpretation, however since there are only three bondsmiths and their order seems to be so unique what if each Godspren has slightly different oaths the proto-radiant must swear to bond it?

  8. So this is theory is just completely out there and a wild guess without much evidence to go on.  Basically I theorize that "What If Obrodai is the planet where Dark One takes place?". We don't know much about Dark One other than that it's cosmere and the main character is destined to destroy the world.  Based on the evidence from the second letter Obrodai is a shardworld or at least has a splinter of a shard/shardic presence. Due to its correlation with a shard that makes it a candidate for future books and stories and I really don't have anymore evidence than that. It's mostly just intuition honestly, not really a true theory.

Well let me know what you think, and if you have any counter arguments or other ideas to add.

  9. Honestly I just chocked it up to a sort of cliche that lots of authors do. You see things like this in many books where there's an animal/being that is "bonded" or connected to characters in one way or another and more often than not it seems that the gender relationship between the human and the spren (or other such creature) is inverse. One big example of this is Phillip Pullmans His Dark Materials series where people have dæmons that are 90% of the time the opposite gender. I've personally just chocked this up to a reference to psychology. More specifically theories from Freud and his student Carl Jeung about how all people have either an anima or an animus inside them that is essentially their spirit animal. Jeung said that males had an anima (female) and females had an animus (male).

It's actually from having multiple powers, irrespective of what Shards they are "from." The powers themselves aren't actually of any of the Shards.

You would have a resonance from having two Allomantic Powers too.

Ah, my bad it's been a few months since I've read some cosmere so my memory isn't at its finest. Thank you for the correction, and here's a free upvote! ;)

Don't know if anyone else is aware, since Boss Monster: the next level is a couple of years old, but I didn't know about it until I played it with a friend today. I was looking through the cards and found a hero named Branadin Wordblessed, who wore a mistcloak, was floating and glowing, and holding a spear. His character description had him travelling between planets, referenced copper, and said that he only stopped writing when fighting evil. I happily told my friend that Sanderson was in the game (my friend has read the first two Mistborn, but he paused before the third to read Twilight, because he wants to know how bad it really is).

I also discovered George RR Martin (Ser Mortin the Deadly, dangerous at weddings) and Patrick Rothfuss (Wrathfuss the Namer, who knows names).

For those of us uncultured people would you mind explaining what exactly Boss Monster is?
