Well right now I'm trying to figure out the geography of my world (Man wouldn't it be so much easier to have a map?) but the general idea is a world very similar to earth, about 10 thousand years after an apocalypse, with an extremely reduced population. A few people have tech that no one knows where it came from or how to build more, and so while some live very plain and drab lifestyles others have showers, light bulbs, and stoves.
Of course there also exist a bunch of magical mythical creatures which control the elements and can get bonded to a person under the right circumstances. (extremely rare)
