Didn't Ba-Ado-Mishram provide forms of power during the false desolation? And Syl saw minor voidspren before Taln returned, although the timing on when exactly Taln cracked is questionable there, but some forms of power may be possible without a desolation.

For Unity, I think there are two things happening. Dalinar's statement of "I am Unity" is him desribing himself as a force of unity, not as a shard or splinter. I don't think Dalinar is aware enough of shards to make the statement anything else. 

But Odium's statement about Dalinar Ascending means something else was going on. I like the idea of Dalinar ascending to a splinter of Honor, or partly ascending to the position of most connected to all of Honor, but not enough to claim the position of Vessel.

On the topic of Reshek moving Scadrial to the sun in order to burn away the mist. I assumed that he attempted to move the planet, realized it didn't work, then due to his mind expanding from the power realized what the actual problem was and fixed that. The mist clearly could exist during the day on Scadrial, so it seemed reasonable that Rashek was actively keeping the mist in check. I don't see why Ruin would wait for Rashek's death before pushing the mist attempt again.

If you read the three chapters available it makes a lot more sense.
