  1. Hey Sharders!

I just need to get this out of my system. I love the Mistborn Trilogy and Mistborn Era II. They are some of the best fantasy novels of our time. It has some powerful lessons, and amazing characters that I love. Before Mistborn, I read The Rithmatist, and enjoyed it immensely, but it was Mistborn that really got me into Brandon Sanderson.

I just want to say that Mistborn is awesome, unbelievably well written, and I love it.

  2. Hey Sharders!

I'm just going to jump right into this. Since the Almighty is dead, what happened to His power? In WoR there is a conversation between the Stormfather and Dalinar that goes like this:

"You said that you were a fragment of the Almighty."

I AM HIS. . . SPREN, YOU MIGHT SAY. NOT HIS SOUL. I AM THE MEMORY

MEN CREATE FOR HIM, NOW THAT HE IS GONE. THE PERSONIFICATION OF STORMS AND OF THE DIVINE. I AM NOT GOD. I AM BUT A SHADOW OF ONE.

Because the Stormfather is the Almighty's "Spren", could it be that He has the Almighty's power? If not, then someone else does... and that doesn't sound like an ideal situation.

  3. That totally puts it into perspective. Thanks dude :)

I love The Rithmatist. It was how I found out about Brandon Sanderson and the Cosmere. You could say that without The Rithmatist, I wouldn't be typing this right now.

Your words were beautiful, and I totally agree with them. Joel is a relatable, fun, and believable character, and your description gave him new meaning for me.

We dream of the supernatural. Sometimes we hope for it too. And it is invigorating--refreshing even--to read a fantasy novel like The Rithmatist, where the character is just like us.

Thanks for making my day McMillion.

  4. Those are some really good points. Having the Shin attack Dalinar seems a little against their behavior, but I'm sure we will learn much more about them in Oathbringer. In both WoK and WoR, there seems to be a lot of assassinating, so I would like to see something new come from Szeth's position.

I previously knew that Hoid was on both Nalthis and Roshar, but not Vasher. That gives me something new to think on. The name "Dust" could simply be a nickname in relation to Hoid's personality. He seems to drift places, and be everywhere.

  5. Hey Sharders!

In Warbreaker there is a scene where Vasher is without Breath completely, making him a Drab. As we learn later, Vasher is Returned, so wouldn't being without Breath kill him?

Returned need a Breath a week to survive, but what happened to Vasher's one Returned Breath? I know Vasher can change how he appears and all that, but how does that hide his aura?

  6. Hey Sharders!

There are many theories on whether Joel is secretly a Rithmatist. Time for another one I guess.

We know that Joel saw something--presumably a Shadowblaze--in the chamber, but Joel doesn't talk with anyone about it, so we don't really know what "It" is. Already we know that Joel doesn't manifest any Rithmatic power, before or after seeing the "It". We know that there are many new and unexplained things happening in the United Isles, as shown by the Forgotten, the Lines of Silencing, and Professor Nalizar. So my theory is this: could Joel have possible power that takes longer to show because he's a new kind of Rithmatist?

Let me hear your opinion on this.

  7. Hey Sharders!

Just looking for an outside opinion. Do we know how Jasnah somehow returns in the epilogue of Words of Radiance? Could she have soulcast herself a new body? Or even not died in the first place, however unlikely?

Jasnah is an Elsecaller, correct? She's obviously had practice with Stormlight much longer than Shallan...

  8. Hey fellow 17th Sharders!

This site looks big and confusing--not too bad-- but I'm going to do my best to figure it out. If there are some things the veterans learned that I should know so I won't embarrass myself, they would be appreciated. Thanks!
