Brandon is being kind of vague on that, so it may be something we see in future books.

This may have been covered before, but I searched and couldn't find anything. Is there a way to selectively tap, as in storing or tapping heat in one specific part of your body? Would this be like a Feruchemist savant ability?

No. I meant it the way you thought. I just missed the typo.

So first off, I think why ruin can see into the future very well is because of the atium. And second off, the future shows what changes will happen, and ruin is all about change. That may be why.

Silver and sterling silver(silver and platinum): allomantically they give you the ability to shrink (silver) and grow (sterling silver), with no change to weight. Feruchemically, they give you the ability to store creativity(silver) and the ability to learn(sterling silver).

It would, but because you can only push and pull on the metal, the mercury would go flying everywhere. With enough practice, though, you could do it for a little while. The lake would probably just splash, and if you were above it, you would probably drown in liquid metal.

For MeLaan to recreate Marasi's blood, she needed to "eat" some of it first. In order to make an egg and sperm, she would need examples to copy off of, so it would be easier to just make the child normally

Alright. So, I guess the real question now is if storing bronze stores REM sleep, so you can take those odd sleep cycles. I think there was an insane extreme of a 15 minute nap every 4 hours. If it just has to do with you tapping at those times, perhaps you could store for a week or two, and then have a month of wakefulness because of the tapping cycles.

Thanks @Spoolofwhool for the correction. So, you couldn't be storing constantly. However, I don't quite think that you would need more sleep, seeing as you are never tapping more than 100%. I may be wrong, but doesn't the inefficiency with Feruchemy only apply once your tapping more than that?
To @Itchy Savant, I think that you can, as long as they are different attributes. I personally think that a Feruchemist could "switch" metal minds by tapping from one and storing into the other, but that's just me.

Sooooooooo, I've done two of these theories a while back, and I've decided to do a third. I'll be covering bronze.
Feruchemy: Bronze
Bronze stores wakefulness, causing you to become drowsy when storing, and more aware and full of energy when tapping. This is an interesting metal, because if you store 100%(and I'm pretty sure that you can, because...) you go into a trance, not awake, but definitely not sleeping. When you "wake" from your trance, you aren't any more awake than when you started the trance. instead, you have a store in your brassmind equal to that of the sleep.
What I think you can do with this is rather incredible. If you can store into your brassmind to tap from it later, why even sleep(other than the fact that sleep is one of the best experiences of most people's lives
)? Sure, it wouldn't really be good to study or train at night, seeing as you would be very bleary eyed and that you probably would forget what you did in the passing days, but there is one insane advantage that you get from 8 extra hours of being awake every day.
You would be able to store into all of the rest of your metal minds at night. Not only would this give you 8 extra hours to store, but you could store considerably more during those 8 hours, seeing as there aren't a ton of threats around, and you don't need to do nearly as much at night. The only two drawbacks I can see is that you would get bored from the time you're spending at night blind, deaf, weak, dumb, and cold. If you are still wondering how you could stay awake forever, refer to the maths below.
The average human needs 8 hours of rest per day, so if you store 8 hours or more per day(and then tap those 8 hours at the beginning of the next day), it would be like resting every day. There are several ways to accomplish this.
- Store brass 33.3333333...% all the time. Since 1/3 of 24 is 8, you'll get your 8 hours every day. This is probably the worst way to do it, since you'll be a bit sleepy all the time, lowering your productivity for whatever you do during the day.
- Store brass 67.7777777...% for 12 hours each day. this will give you productivity from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M., allowing you to have a job/hobby/something to do during the day.
- Store brass 80% for 8 hours, 40% for 4. This is probably the best one because generally, people are somewhat drowzy(say, 40%) in the 2 hours leading up to and out of sleep. Sure, you'll be fighting to stay awake during those eight hours, but they'll seem a lot shorter if you're storing steel and zinc ;).

So I would need to start collection with F: Aluminum, so I would know what I wanted.

I would take F:Steel, F: Gold, and A: Pewter(if compounding isn't allowed), because I would be able to easily store the two hardest stored metals. If compounding is allowed, I would take A and F: Chromium, and F: Electrum. Then, I could easily gather hemalurgic Spikes and then tap determination to get out of harmony's control.

But guys, you don't have to have your metal minds be piercings. You don't even have to float naked. You just have to be boyant enough to float in the air with your gear. If you were truly going completely stored, you would shoot up into the sky. Air has weight. You just need to have a net boyancy more than the boyancy of air.

Took a little time but it got Marsh.

No idea at all. I wonder how that would work. Maybe you just get more efficient taps as you tap more?

The books seem to imply that speed is hard to store (maybe they outright say it? not sure), so like Yata says, there's probably something that stops you from storing much at any one time without major health concerns
I'm pretty sure that sazed says it, but I think it is in reference to how slow you move. Also, what health concerns would happen, do you think, if you were to tap steel a ton?

Thanks for responding to my last post on my theories on iron. These are all of my theories with steel. I hope you like them!
Steel is a really cool feruchemical metal, being very overpowered since you can store your physical speed in it. However, this makes you a snail anytime you store. But what if there was more use you could get out of storing into steel? When storing you speed goes down, so does that mean that your breathing and blood flow goes down? That would allow you to live underwater for one hundred times the normal time, not bleed out nearly as fast, and also not starve to death for about an entire year! Kind of crazy, right?
My next theory is on tapping other metals while tapping steel. If you tap steel and go 2x as fast, then tap pewter, would your strength go down the normal 1x as fast? That would allow you to get more out of your other metals, effectively getting twice as strong, since you can spend twice the metal in that time and getting just as much done.
My favorite part about this is that one of them has to be true. If your body functions go just as fast as your steel, then you can not get sick, not starve, not drown, and not bleed out, but if your body functions happen independent of your steel, then when tap any other metals, they decrease slower(effectively).
Do you think that this is correct, or am I absolutely crazy? Thanks for replying in advance!

This Higgs Boson particle is interesting. Can anybody explain it a bit more simply? I don't quite understand.

Hi, all! I've been thinking about feruchemy a lot recently, and I've decided to try to do a couple of theories on them. This is the first one, so feedback would be really great.
IRON
People seem to either really like this, or not pay any attention to it at all. I am definitely on the side of really liking it. I have two theories on this one. Brandon Sanderson has stated that iron allows you to store your mass into the metalmind, allowing you to become lighter or heavier. This also means that iron effects density, since density is mass/volume, and the volume of the item(in this case, a human) doesn't change.
With that in mind, you could(with enough skill) make yourself as dense as the air around you(1.225 kg/m^3) and effectively fly. Admittedly, would have to store 99.875% of your weight, and you wouldn't have much control, but you would be able to change your altitude by making yourself denser or less dense than air, and then as dense as air. this would allow you to store into pewter, steel, zinc, a little bit of bronze, and several of the other hard to store metals.
My next theory is that of durability. As an object gets denser, it also gets more durable, as fewer things are able to pass through it and break it. Now, if you were to tap iron enough, would you be able to make your skin dense enough to stop a bullet? This gets cooler as you make yourself the bullet. Now, in the books(don't have a copy by me, so I don't know exactly where) Wax says something about his velocity not changing when he taps or stores in the air. In order for that to happen, his energy needs to go WAY up. E=MC^2, right? So now you have a super high energy bullet proof person.
Are my theories correct, or is there something I'm missing?

I think that you are right in that thinking. I always thought that the metals attuned the power(sort of) in your spirit web, and that savants just had a more attuned spirit web that relied on the metal, but I think this one makes more sense.

This would be great for a steelpusher and an ironpuller, each of them giving each other their abilities.

Thanks for the answers, guys. I have another one, though. Since we know that you can store different senses in Tin, could you plausibly store certain abilities?

What was Harmony's distraction at the end of the Bands of Mourning? It's kind of odd to have a god not aware what he is distracted by. So far I have two ideas.
First, he is having some inner conflict of Preservation and Ruin, who still slightly control his actions and are trying to separate.
Second, perhaps TLR(or Kelsier) has taken a piece of him when they left from the grave.
What do you guys think? is there something else I'm missing?

I would have the ultimate thief. Nicrosil Feruchemy and Electrum Allomancy all the way

Why does burning Atium show the future?

So, I think I have the time. My idea is that perhaps all of the shards started off as very similar (other than intent), but because of certain things (preservation making people/allomantic powers, for example) made them worse at certain things. This would explain why ruin does not have great future sight, and
Preservation isn't very human in secret history.
I don't have more examples, but i like the idea.
