On the coppermind article for fabrials, under the trivia section, it mentions that

Was there a mechanical means by which the Shaod operates? Or am I interpreting the quote poorly?

oh, my bad  i guess i remembered the bit about 40 potential alloys, and though that was the number they tested. either way, i doubt someone would stumble across it outside scadrial.

Aluminum is a naturally occurring material on Scadrial (Even though they did have to harvest it from volcanoes.) Although TLR already knew about Duralumin, it took metallurgists a long while of actively looking for a new metal (I want to say they went through a good 50 or 60 metals before they found Duralumin? But i don't really remember.) Its not likely someone would just stumble across Duralumin, and i highly doubt that it exists outside of Scadrial. I think that if someone brought Duralumin elsewhere in the cosmere (whether through worldhopping or space travel in era 4), it could be likely to enhance other forms of investiture use.

We know that there is already a standardized system used by the City of Silverlight, Khriss talks about "cosmere standard" measurements in many of the essays included in AU, including cosmere standard planet size, gravitation, and feet. I think that with the technological advances that Scadrial is going through, there is a fairly likely chance they will discover Silverlight and the Worldhoppers, and adopt the cosmere standard measuring system. In any case, a standard system exists and could potentially be adopted by everyone in the future.

I know the effects of compounding, that is, that it makes you more powerful. However, i never felt like the books gave an amazing job at explaining exactly how it works. I know it has something to do with storing in a metalmind, then burning it to get an increased effect, but of what exactly? does it increase the feruchemical effect when you burn it? or does it increase the allomantic effect? both? maybe Im just being dumb (to be fair, i haven't read the books in a while), but could someone explain more how compounding works?

I cant find the specific one that i'm looking for, but there is a WoB saying that Adonalsium is a separate thing (whether a being/entity, or just a power) from the God Beyond. Adonalsium is the god of the cosmere (lowercase g), and the God Beyond (uppercase G) is definitely at least the God of The Beyond where people go where they die. He may or may not be also related to the 3 realms and the cosmere, but we know that He exists outside of them. The same applies to The Beyond and the spiritual realm, they are two separate places.

I want to try all the different kinds of wine on roshar.

It was close for me between radiant and mistborn, however i ultimately chose mistborn just because metals are much more common than stormlight on other worlds, and we don't know enough about how magic systems interact to know if radiants could power themselves on other things yet.

And TLR, cause duh... i mean, come on.

The issue I have with the idea of Bind points as the focus for hemalurgy is that, yes bind points are a variable through which the power is manipulated, but a focus is produced by the planet through which a magic system develops. If bind points were the focus for hemalurgy they would also be included in Allomancy and Feruchemy. 

The metal is the part of the magic system that actually holds the power. The bind points are needed because the power needs to be placed in the correct place to interact with the receivers spiritweb. The actual determination for what power can be stolen is the metal though. 

Bind points must have some major affect on the power stolen though. Atium can steal any power, and so unlike other metals, the bind point must be what ultimately decides what power is stolen. Otherwise, you might try to spike a mistborn or a full feruchemist, and the hemalurgy would react unpredictably.

How would their weight change if there is no weight already in space? Would they not be able to fill or draw upon their metalmind? Could they fill their metalmind with an infinite amount of weight? Would would they be attracted to if they increased their weight, or would they be able to increase their weight at all?

Is there a comprehensive list of acronyms that apply to the cosmere? I see things like TLR (the lord ruler) and TWOK (the way of kings) but don't know a lot of the acronyms used. If there isn't a list, this is now it.

so, in summary, our "common" numbers are 10, 16, and probably 256. What relation so these have to each other and other possible numbers that may crop up?

If radiant shardplate can change shape and/or size like their blades can, they could just redesign their plate to deflect the bullet or provide more stopping power.

It seems that all people must undergo some form of stress to gain their powers. Mistborn need to "snap" and experience some form of traumatizing physical or emotional stress to gain allomancy. The Elantrians need to be taken by the Shaod. The Returned somehow gain one incredibly powerful breathe when they return, although anyone can get enough breathe to become powerful. The parshendi must transform in the middle of a highstorm, and surgebinders must form the nahel bond with a spren. Kaladin, at least, was physically, emotionally, and mentally stressed before he figured out the oaths. Thoughts?

How well could shardplate hold up against bullets? It only takes a few good whacks with a shardblade to totally shatter a piece, so I think that a bullet could penetrate, but this could be due to shardblades somehow being better equipped to fight shardplate. Also, would the bullet just make a hole (due to tiny impulse) or does shardplate always shatter when it fails? Thoughts?

I have read most of Brandon's books (with the exception of some of the novella's) and have some pretty interesting theories. Interested to find out what everyone else thinks!
