Oh boy oh boy I'm so excited to tell you about this.
So, you know the Megaman series, right? Super fighting robot, Megaman?
There's a band I adore called the Protomen, and their music is a dystopian rock opera version of the games. They're entirely story-based, in-character songs from the perspectives of Dr Light, Megaman, and others from the universe. And they will rock your face off!
Anywho, their music is split up into Acts, one per album, alongside a cover album of tracks from the 70s-80s that fit their aesthetic and a Queen tribute album which is at times completely indistinguishable from the original Freddie Mercury vocals. If you enjoy rock and roll, you owe it to yourself to listen to them.
The words "I will search the night" originate from a deliciously sexy 80s synth piece from The Makeup and Vanity Set, a sort of sibling band that shares a few members with the band. And my signature is sourced from their latest EP for the third and final Act of their story– and it would be so incredibly in keeping with the story to use it for that purpose! Please do!
They're a really good band, with powerful messages about hope in the face of unfathomable adversity and facing unbeatable odds. I'm actually going to a show of theirs next week!
