  1. So in this thread, you would say a small use of a single magic system (or a part of one) in your daily modern life. No one knows that you have that ability, so don't worry, no one will stop you.

For example, I would make my teeth frictionless, using Abrasion, so they always stay clean.

  2. Right out of the gate I have a question I was wondering if any of you could speculate or answer for me. When Adonalsium was shatterd into 16 pieces was it predetermined who would get what shards or was it based on personalities?

IF it is any out of the 2, it would be predetermined as Ati (holds Ruin) was described by Hoid as a benevolent man who was twisted by his shard.

  3. This probably has been said before but I could not find a topic on it. So we know that

Nalan'elin had Nightblood with him. We also know that Lift can see spren and perhaps Nightblood. Darkness is Nalan.

When I was reading the interlude of Lift I came across a intriguing passage.

Sorry for quoting such a long passage.

Darkness thrust something toward her. The little animal was like a cremling, but with wings. Bound wings, tied-up legs. It had a strange little face, not crabbish like a cremling. More like a tiny axehound, with a snout, mouth, and eyes. It seemed sickly, and its shimmering eyes were pained. How could she tell that? The creature sucked the awesome ness from Lift. She actually saw it go, a glistening whiteness that streamed from her to the little animal. It opened its mouth, drinking it in.

  4. Found the original quote.

Hoid:"I will tell you one [a story for children], to get you in the mood. A bunny rabbit and a chick went frolicking in the grass together on a sunny day.

    Kaladin: "A chick...baby chicken? And a what?"

Hoid:Ah forgot myself for a moment, Sorry. Let me make it more appropriate for you . A piece of wet slime and a disgusting crab thing with seventeen legs slunk across the rocks together on an insufferably rainy day. Is that better?"

    :D

  5. The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson states that anybody can gain power provided they are poetic enough. To become a Knight Radiant and gain the associated powers, one must swear on the First Ideal and sincerely believe it. On a superficial level, what the First Ideal says is that life is more important than death, strong people should protect the weak, and performing an evil action with helpful consequences is not worth it. However, on a deeper level, the truths of the First Ideal are simply self evident truths spoken in a poetic manner.

    1. Life before death.

There was no death in the universe before there was life, because an object that was never alive can never be dead. Therefore, the first death could only occur after the first life (as far as we know, the first living thing was a cell).

    2. Strength before weakness.

Many things, such as computers, nails, and books start out with the most strength they will ever have and degrade over time. This means that the universe follows a pattern of strength and then weakness.

    3. Journey before destination.

Obviously, to reach a destination, one must go through a journey. If no journey is taken, no destination can be reached. This destination may be as simple as "one millimeter over to the right", however, to reach that spot, one must move. This movement, small as it is, is still a journey.

All of the things stated in the First Ideal are quite obvious, but speaking them gives one great power. Therefore, to attain great power, one only needs to state something obvious in a poetical manner. This has huge implications, especially in the world of politics, where many unobvious and untrue things are stated to gain power. This also empowers observant people, who can state obvious things they have noticed in order to gain superpowers.

Sorry for the late reply, this is what I meant.  ^_^

  6. As we all know, deathspren appear when someone is dying. Since they appear so be somewhat smarter than the average spren

(fighting Syl when Kaladin was dying)

, is it possible for someone to bond one? They may be attracted to people who either cause death, or are on the brink of death continuously.  :P
