  1. Great call on the 'Rust and Ruin' saying btw. I had assumed that rust was culturally dire on Scadrial because metal is so central to their magic/culture/beliefs.
  2. I thought that investure in Mistborn was genetic, not picked based on their actions? If anything, I would consider Roshar to be the world dependent on actions, since spren are attracted to and thus bond with individuals based on their actions/virtues.
  3. Pretty awesome. I really dig Sanderson's take on Godhood in AoL and this one! Totally excited for the Bands of Mourning.
  4. I started with Sanderson when he finished the Wheel of Time. I think I read the original Mistborn trilogy before AMoL came out. I was floored by the magic system, and by the cosmic feel of the ending. I also was frustrated that it ended without exploring what was clearly a much deeper world/system. I started Way of Kings after finishing AMoL. Honestly I had a difficult time starting it after coming down from the WoT ending. Once I made it past the mid point though, I became a huge fan. I once again felt the magic system was awesome, and was hoping Stormlight Archive would explore it in more depth. I think it was when I started Words of Radiance that I stumbled upon the Coppermind wiki. So much wonderful stuff. I chained through Elantris, Warbreaker, and Alloy of Law shortly after finishing WoR. Just finished Shadows of Self last night.
  5. I created a user account so I could post in this thread I think there's a lot of value to considering the spacial distortion at a time bubble's edge! We know that object that cross that boundary change have their trajectory affected (which is why you can't accurately shoot out of a time bubble, your aim gets thrown off). This reminds me of light bending as it enters water. Also, I really want to re-read the last chapter of AoL, when Wax shoots his own bullet to change it's course. When I first read it, I pictured Robin Hood shooting his own arrow (that happened in the disney cartoon i think?). However, I think there's something important there about projectile physics. Specifically, how did the second bullet catch up to the first one? AFAIK, Robin was able to do it because the arrow's original trajectory was vertical (his first shot was high). Bullets leaving a gun barrel should have the same velocity and therefore shouldn't be able to catch up.
