  1. Adolin x Eshonai - I just find the idea of this relationship to be very interesting. Eshonai has interacted with Adolin the most of all primary characters, and suffered a defeat at his hands. Adolin has seen two sides to the woman, though he doesn't know it. Plus he's a playboy, and knows how to show an inexperienced woman a good time ; )
  2. Excuse the misspells from auto correct on phone "De-summoning" and "during the vision" were what I meant
  3. I have a pet theory that the Shardblade is the last of a set to be summoned. I believe, going on Dalinar's visions of the Knights Radients, that every piece of the shard plate and blade could be summoned with an associated heartbeat. In other words the first heartbeat are the boots, second legs and knee plate, third greaves, fourth skirt, fifth the chest plate, sixth pauldrons, seventh the arms and elbows, eighth the gauntlets, ninth the helm, and finally tenth the blade. This ability to summon/dr summon parts of armor would explain the missing helmets and gauntlet furring the vision.
  4. Well of Ascension: The fight scene with Sazed vs Marsh. Sazed really became my one of my favorite characters in that book, and this is just one of the reasons why. Hero of Ages: Sazed's realization that he was the Hero of Ages at the very end and the redemption of his religion was awesome. In a way, this book was really about him more than anyone else. Alloy of Law: Wax's destruction of the house by using his weight and collapsing everything underneath him. Had to read that scene over again right away to fully take it all in. Final Empire: This one wins the true prize. When I realized that Kelsier's goal was to create a new religion about The Survivor to counter the Lord Ruler. This book is still my favorite from Sanderson.
  5. So here's something that kind of resonated with me. I just had to bring a friend of mine, one of my best friends until recently, to a drug rehabilitation clinic on Thursday. I've been feeling kind of depressed so I've been reading a lot lately to "escape" and thus have been going through a lot of books from my favorite authors. One of the books I reread was Alloy of Law. Earlier last month I had devoured it in my usual way, and while I had scanned the awesome newspaper articles in the book, I didn't really study them until today. This is partly because I just wanted the story, but mostly because the Kindle edition really doesn't allow me to study them. Fortunately, Inkthinker is awesome enough to allow me to get a view of it in its full glory on his site (if you read this, thanks for that). What stood out to me was one advertisement in particular- the Soothing Parlor. While the clip itself seems innocent- describing itself more as if it was a spa of some sort rather than anything seedy- it does bear the question to my mind if some Soothers and Rioters are much like drug dealers in our world. Perhaps a better description would be the operators of Opium Dens that were infamous during the Industrial Revolution in Western Society. Addictions can be subtle things, and many people think that they are physical thing in the body. However, in my experience with friends and their addictions, it seems to be more of a mental struggle. Physical addictions rarely last for greater than three days after the user stops consumption, but the desire of the mind for a surcease of pain and thought or a flood of pleasure lasts well after the body has any need for the substance. It's one of the reasons why I'm one of the few people my age who isn't comfortable about the idea of marijuana legalization. I can imagine a situation where people people pay money to sit or lay around a couple of people rioting emotions of pleasure and happiness and/or soothing emotions of pain and worry. Electrum Feruchemists would be in a great amount of danger of falling into an addictive state of mind by themselves. They could essentially create periods of being "high" by making themselves depressed quite a bit. Combining this with a Rioter, they could create a burst of overwhelming pleasure similar to a drug rush. It would be very hard to regulate with laws, and that's even considering how ineffective the laws of the US are in dealing with our drug issues. As well, much like guns are also known as "Coinshots for the common man," opiates or other drugs may be considered as "Soother's elixir" or something similar. I would find it interesting if Sanderson added an element of this into his future novels.
  6. Actually this makes a lot of sense. We know that Odium left Roshar for a period of time, and that may have been the time when the Desolations ended. Following this, the Radiants "betrayed" the people, the Silver Kingdoms fell and petty wars swept the lands. This might have weakened Honor, and allowed Odium, when he returned, to dominate and kill him. So by causing imbalance with his absence, Odium ultimately won his stalemate with Honor.
  7. Nice call. Didn't even consider this.
  8. Hi, new poster. Anyways, I just reread Way of Kings this week and looking up stuff afterwards was how I stumbled onto this forum. This thread actually drew my interest because of Dustbringers. I personally find it surprising how many people have stated, not just on this thread and forum but others as well, that they probably have some "fire" related power. I personally don't think that this is the case. I actually think they interact with atomic forces. I think their main power has to do with breaking down the forces, i.e. breaking things down to dust. Their power could somehow destabilize the bonds in some piece of mass, like a rock for instance, causing it to fall apart. Thus their namesake "Dustbringers." And while I'm no physicist, I'm pretty sure other things happen when you break apart the bonds of something tightly held together by those bonds. The other forces in the universe would come to play, particularly the ones that govern how much space between molecules exists and so on (As I said, I'm no physicist). The result would cause an explosion- the atoms would be "pushing" each other much like what occurs in a nuclear reaction. This would explain all of the smoke and wreckage around the areas where they fought. If this is a power of theirs, they would truly be a very devastating force to fight against. That's my theory about these guys anyways.
