A few years back, I started reading a lot more fantasy. And then I started reading more high fantasy. And then I was severely disappointed with the female leads in the majority of said high fantasy. That, or there was a horrid romantic subplot.
(Keep in mind, this was in the midst of the Twilight hype, so Bella Swan clones were stamped everywhere in literature. *shivers*)
It was then that I embarked on my great journey to find a book with a female lead I did not want to punch in the face.
I searched everywhere. I traveled to the highest mountain tops, to the very depths of the ocean and I—
Oh, okay. I Googled. Heroically.
And The Final Empire kept popping up in my searches. And then I read it. And loved it. And I went back to my library and checked out five more Brandon Sanderson books.
And then I had a new favorite author.
Oh, and then I read the Rithmatist. I was really irritated because I had no one to talk to about it, so I lurked on here for a week or two without ever making an account. And here we are, one year later. Ta-da!
