  1. "Interesting... Less subtle than some, yet as infuriating as all... It could be referencing a monster, but it's more likely to be a Spheremorph... Maybe more than one Spheremorph? It does not appear to reference me, but maybe I should-" Top breaks off suddenly. He takes a long, slow breath, obviously trying hard to control himself, though the reason for doing so is perhaps not so obivous. "Top apologizes for getting so excited. For your honesty, he will tell you should he discover any plausible meanings of the prophecy. Hopefully, it's nothing too life-altering. I'll tell you this, though: keep an eye out for people with eye-related powers, and those who carry objects with the powers mentioned in the prophecy. It's possible that Top is taking this too literally, but prophecies are often less subtle than they seem. Be wary, but not paranoid." Top strides rapidly away after a quick, polite bow. When did Top last slip like that...? Perhaps the topic reminded him of Ale- his studies. He had best be more careful... He heads toward the Glyph Arena - there are a few more tests he would like to run before his battle, plus he would like to spectate any ongoing battles.
  2. Top sighs slightly as the man takes him in instantly and begins to analyze. Some people have no sense of trust... Or at least of feigning trust. He steps closer, dropping his polite mannerisms. "Top sees that you won't be eased by subtlety or euphemisms. So he'll be blunt. Top chases prophecy for two reasons: to avoid being ensared in one if at all possible, and to... recover something he lost of value." Top looks at... Ambro, the announcer had said? straight in the eyes. "Please, repeat what that woman said, word for word if possible. If not, Top will find another who can." Let Top see what the man makes of that.
  3. Top approached the figure as he finished shifting to Baseline, and stopped a respectful distance away. "Excuse me sir, but you were the screaming woman's opponent, correct? Would you be willing to tell Top what it is that she said. He did not hear clearly, but suspects it to be prophetic." Perhaps Top can gain a second ally in this man...
  4. Top looks up as he hears a long shriek. He manages to pick up a few words, but those are enough for him. They stink of prophecy. Top mutters, "If there's one thing Top hates, it's prophecies. Always forcing people to a certain Destiny, taking away their choices. Top needs to know whatt that was about." He closes his mouth. Top should probably not talk to himself here... He stops his study of the Glyphs and enters the Waterfall Arena, looking for someone who would have been able to understand what the lady had been screaming. He sees a woman being hauled off the arena floor. She was probably the screamer... And who better to have heard the scream then the man she faced? Top quickly approaches the man she had been fighting as he steps out of the arena.
  5. I think he means that the Audience Area is separated from the Arena Area; the Chasm included with the Arena.
  6. I hope that's canon, because very few things made to replace it would seem as logical. Also, I'd like a conjecture,; what do you think would happen if Top froze an object to the wall? I doubt it would build energy, since that would eventually disobey Laws, but when the ice was released/shattered, wouldn't the object go flying? More importantly, would it be faster or slower than if it were, say, thrown at the wall? Thanks for the idea-assisting, I've got a number of schems built up now... >
  7. I asked some questions a while ago, but I think they got displaced by KChan's post. The questions still stand though, with the addition of these; If someone could put enough force into it, could they push off of one side of the Arena all the way to the other, and if so, what would happen when they "hit" the other side? Also, do the Glyphs continue down onto the Chasm walls?
  8. All great questions. In fact, I'm surprised I haven't already thought of the first two!!! (Wow - I've not been at this very long, yet I'm already greeting newer prospective members! ) I can answer your third question - once your character is approved by Silus (the approving bit is mostly to help you fine-tune your character. It really helps!), you basically just introduce yourself. My character practically *poof*'d out of nowhere, and started talking to another "PC" by mere coincidence; game coincidences being coincidentally uncoincidental. Also, I agree that a synopsis would be a good idea; maybe someone can look into that... Hopefully, you decide to join, because this group is very friendly (if somewhat insane), helpful, and relatively easy-going. Welcome to Nexus! (I'm the one who gets to say that first... :D !!!!!!) EDIT - Ninja'd... I feel so sad.
  9. So what would happeen if a fighter crossed thee bridges into the audience? Would they be disqualified? Also, in the Glyph Cavern, tthe glyphs must exert more force than is being put on them, or the person tryinng to touch them just wouldn't be able to move towards them, correct? If that's the case, how much extra force is exerted, and is it constant, or does it increase linearly in relation to the force exerted, or quadratically, etc.? (That's right. Math. It does matter, though, for some of my ideas.)
  10. "That sounds agreeable to Top. He would like to spend just a few minutes examining the Glyph Arena thoug, before going. Is this alright with you?" Top does need to look at the Arena before he goes... Plus, he would like to look one last time for the guy Jack knows.
  11. ...Oh. That was unexpected. Looks like I picked the right ally, though. Now Top just has to give Jack a reason not to analyze him... Best not to prod, for now. "Jack, what do you know about the Glyph Arena? All Top knows is that it has shining glyphs on the walls. For that matter, what do you know of this place in general? It is surely more than Top has seen so far."
  12. Fixed 'em!!! AAAKKK!!! DOUBLE POST!!!!
  13. By "leave", I really mean "go out and adventure/mess around until the next round begins", but I guess that depends on the time between each round, and whether there are attractions like monster-infested segments of the area. Considering the... unstable mental state of most of the arena fighters thus far, I would guess that most of them won't be content with waiting around. Also - My links will be repaired in... say, 10 minutes.
  14. But then, wouldn't the joke also be rising? Also, Silus- How is the arena organized? What I mean is, 1. Are the fights Round-Robin or KnockOut? 1a. If fights are KO, what happens to the losers? 2. Will the fights always be in the three arenas, or are they only for the first round? 3. What if someone wants to leave in between rounds? I apologize for firing my Q-Broadside, but I feel this is something we should all like to know, and I don't remember having seen this information.
  15. I will fix tthose links shortly, never fear. Also - Data Update? At last! Now I'll feel official!!!!! Em- oh. I get it. The joke is no longer over my head. Or maybe I've just grown...?
  16. "The man you wish to watch is the one you were talking to originally, correct? Is he the one person you said you know, or is it another?" 26... That could be good or bad, depending on how the brackets are drawn... Top takes a moment, writing himself a mental note to check the brackets as soon as convenient. "Top is worried that you may have to fight him before long. He thinks he should be trying to dislike you or manipulate you, but he would prefer not too. He hopes you feel similarly." At this point, Top isn't sure Jack knows how to manipulate...
  17. Are we talking that book Jack offered? I think I just felt a breeze. It was the wind of something going right over my head.
  18. Hmmm... the book has the right size, the appropriately dry title, the enticing smell... Top looks at it for a long moment, then speaks. "This is what you were speaking from during that last match, is Top not correct? He would very much like to read that book, and offers profound thanks for the offer." Top smiles then. "Top should be fighting before too much longer. Have you fought yet? Also, what is your number?"
  19. Em- I understand you not a bit. I hate to be nitpicky, but are you going to change the color of the terrain around the Mounts of Dichotomy? It bothers me that, in the original, the fiery area and the frozen area are both covered in lush, green grass. Please don't be offended; I mean this in the best possible way. In other news... Woooooooh!!! Rep Point #1 FTW!!!.
  20. "You have introduced yourself already." Copper Chemist? That seems somehow ironic... "He is called Top. Delighted to make your aquaintence, Jack. You seem a social guy; Top was late to the Tournament, and so was unable to meet anyone could you, perhaps, introduce him to your friends later?" Top hates introducing himself without anything to write on. It makes it so much harder to stay in third person. He sighs softly. "Also, do you know if they have a library, or perhaps a bookstore down here for Top to visit later?" Nothing like books to lighten Top's mood.
  21. As far as I know, they can be either. Or both. I don't believe it matters. It's just coincidence that both so far are in-game. ... ... ... ... ...Or is it?
  22. So, what do I win...? The map looks quite nice. The Mounts of Dichotomy are absent (Top would care; that's his hime.), and the water borders are conspicuously smooth, but those are relatively minor details. As for my journal text, I'm thinking of adding seperate, "readme" files for each entry. The text looks nice in the original documents; I could send you them fine, for example, but the clarity gets iffy when I edit them to be photo-bucket compatable. Is there a better place to put them? Oh, and thank you for the compliment! :]
  23. Top finds himself swept up in the wake of the energetic... Chemist, maybe? He could be a Steel or Iron Misting. Top follows along behind. After all, that was the point of joining the fellow. He wonders briefly when his match is, but it's too late to check now without missing everything important. He'll just have to wait and listen for his name. Ughh. He hopes they use the name Top, like he asked them to. The name on his door that morning had most certainly not been funny. He had gouged it out and scratched "Top" into the wood. Hopefully, that wouldn't get him into trouble. He turns to the talky man: "Jack, if it doesn't bother you for me to ask, I noticed the chain you wear; are you in Form at the moment?" Top wondered how long this man could hold Form. Probably only a few hours. That seemed to be the norm.
  24. This is a... fantastic idea. Hmmm... *brainstormbrainstormbrainstorm* My character Top is a self-proclaimed Monster Philosopher. These are some of the things I've come up with for him to come up with. •Theory: Monster Growth- Monster kill not only for meat, but to physically (and mentally?) grow. Certain Pros to this include the fact that monsters in captivity, while few in number, are almost always smaller than monsters of the wild. Additionally, size is not necessarily related to age - that observation is generally regarded by scholars to be fact. The only real Cons are that it gives no explanation for the devouring of a monster by another monster, or why this occurs. •Theory: SphereMorphs and Monsters- SphereMorphs are monsters. Not fully, but some slight part. Pros of this include the fact that Spherees and Grids, and often Mounts come directly from monster bodies; further, it suggests a connection between this and the fact that SphereMorphs almost invariably refer to themselves and normal humans as being different in more than just possessing an artifact of power. Also, SphereMorphs usually have mental instabilities and unstable emotional states, though it could be that these are the only people willing to fight deadly creatures on a regular basis. Cons of this theory innclude the fact that Mounts can be created by humans as of recently, and that the SphereMorphs can change hands without any ill effects on the person who is no longer a Morpher. Plus, they are still human as a species, or procreation would not be possible. Strange ideas, I know, but each is plausible. There's just too much we still don't know, and , sequestered as we are within the Arena, it will be some time before that changes.
  25. I have decided to make Grid designing my "thing". Not Top's, mine. I did my AT Grid, and I liked how it turned out so well, I've gone and done another! Hope nobody minds. Before you ask, I have no idea about the back story of the "journal" entries that come with the pictures. I'm making that part up, still. I promise, though, that it will be awesome! I have my Affected Triplicate HERE, and I also did the Glorious Sunburst, HERE. Also, HERE is the Cradle of Chemistry, especially for Cuaiir. (How do you pronounce that?) EDITED EDIT- My links are not working right now. I have them fixed!! Tell me what you Think!!! (Probably by PM, so we don't clutter the Thread.) (I just hope I'm not stepping on toes here - Especially not Silus's!)
