  1. I know. I was looking at other maps after I finished and I realized Roshar is located too high on the planet. damnation. Oh well. Hope to do a new one each year with updates as new info is attained. The map of Scadrial is difficult because that's literally the only map there is of it. Instead of making up land masses I'll just make that the face of the map for now.
  2. On a lighter note (and possibly a more subversive one lol), here's an update. Three planets down. Still looking for tips on some of the others. Hope you guys enjoy it so far.
  3. I thought the majority of the folks lived on the Home Isles, and then the story took place on the Pantheon islands?
  4. Hey. Just want to apologize for not being entirely clear earlier on. I don't have plans with this version of the map to show any highstorms or everstorms, and I have mostly finished Roshar already. At work currently, so I'm not in a position to share a pic just yet.
  5. I pictured it more rocky, but then again most of the book took place on the shattered plains... I'm looking at the maps of Elantris and Warbreaker now. Will interpret the best way I can. A cognitive map. Hmm. I wasn't planning on it. If this one is taken well enough, I may. But all I really set out to do was visualize the physical aspect of the Cosmere. Yeah, that's a good point. Where does shinovar lie?
  6. By splashes of color, what do you mean? Which colors would that be?
  7. Hey guys, I'm hoping to begin the coloring process for the planets tonight. I'm curious what you guys feel the planets look like. I've started with Taldain. Since White Sand is located there I've basically just made it a sand planet. I've attached a photo. Anyone have any idea what the surface of the planets would realistically look like? For Roshar I'll be making it mostly barren due to the highstorms. Except for the water obviously. I picture Braize looking like a hellish damnable place - lava canyons etc. Ashyn barren with a few patches of green. Sel... No clue Yolen I picture very ice-like First of the Sun mostly water, with islands Nalthis?? Scadrial I'll do a mix of brown and green. Threnody mostly green How do you guys feel about this? I'd like as much input as you can give. Especially for Sel and Nalthis. I've not read either Elantris or Warbreaker.
  8. That we know of. There are still unknown shards out there. So for now, I'll leave that bit of conjecturing out.
  9. Thanks for the kind words. Hoping to get this finished soon. I've started the inking process. Chose to do it by hand instead of the computer. Felt more personal, for better or worse. As per the legend, notes and names are inked in black letters. Here's an update:
  10. Yeah, this may need to happen. As it is, I'm surprised the text came out as smooth as it did. (The low res shot is very choppy).
  11. I don't have any issue with the size of Roshar. When you unroll the planet and flatten the map, it'd look pretty close to the official one. Scadrial on the other hand is a far harder one to draw. There's only the map of the one continent. I noted that in the sidelines.
  12. Thanks a ton man. I really appreciate it. That's the plan!
  13. I've finished the general outline of my artistic rendering. I think I've included most everything. Please let me know if there is anything amiss or incorrect before I begin the coloring stage. Having trouble loading a higher-Res shot. Oh well.
  14. Do we have access to any continental maps for Scadrial or the other planets (besides Roshar)? I have very limited knowledge on the majority of the world's. So unless you guys know of/have access to other general maps, I'll just be coloring in each world a different color based on my very limited knowledge of their terrains. Is this the largest map we have from Mistborn?
  15. This is a sound argument. Unfortunately it hasn't been explicitly explained. Thus, most of wht I'm doing is inference.
  16. Ahhh. Okay, very good. Thanks for clarifying. Powers that be, please close this thread.
  17. You know, I didn't even think about that. That's a good point. Will figure out a remedy.
  18. In my research to gain info on the ten major planets within the Cosmere, I found a fairly major flaw with the Coppermind wiki page for Ashyn and the unpublished Cosmere work The Silence Divine. It says on the wiki page that the book is set on Ashyn. If you follow the link to the post user "theofficetroll" is quoting from a Q&A session about the Greater Roshar system. Brandon states "Odium's presence is felt on Roshar, but he is on Brayse, the 3rd planet in the system." theofficetroll asks if that Shard is on The Silence Divine, a confusing question. Brandon answers a different question, perhaps misunderstanding the question: "Oh, you mean Ashen. Ashen is mostly barren with small fertile patches." Brandon meant that Ashyn was the third planet in the system, not that the Silence Divine takes place there. Perhaps he thought the asker was confused as to the identity of the third planet he had just made mention of. To confirm that this is actually a mistake, Words of Brandon (compiled) x 2 comes to the rescue. Therein the question and answer states: Q: Does the Silence Divine take place in the Cosmere? A: It does, it takes place on a planet called Threnody. There is no shard on that planet however. The magic is more something you interact with, not something you perform b/c there isn't a shard there. So there's no shard on Threnody, but it's still considered a Minor Shardworld. Interesting. I do not know how to make changes to the wiki page, so I'll leave that to you fine gentlemen. Unless I'm entirely wrong.
  19. Thanks! Hope I can deliver! Working on it now, and I'm enjoying how it's turning out. I'll be adding color to it at some point in the near future. Here's Greater Roshar currently: Note that the only planet of the ten that's truly well mapped is Roshar. Even the Mistborn books don't give me a decent glimpse of Scadrial. Just the one continent. So that's all I have to work with. Edit: also, under the legend, the different items will be color coded.
  20. Well, I really don't ever expect the map to be scale/distance accurate. I won't bother with determining how distant each star is. But perspectively, and as visually representative as I can ascertain it, I plan to do so.
  21. That's definitely important to note. Debating whether I'll place side notes on said map rendition...
  22. ^ Ooklalhoo'Elin beat me to it. I've also read that The Greater Roshar planets are in a similar situation where they're too close to their respective Star to sustain life, but they do. So it's not a matter of chance.
  23. Fantastic. This actually answers a lot. Thank you!
  24. That was my plan all along. The best way to avoid RAFO's is to have give me a warm or cold response. But I guess they shouldn't effect the overall story any, so why not? Here they are, revised: 1. Threnody and Scadrial have a common starscape in which there is an unusually bright patch of stars. Threnody and First of the Sun are both minor Shardworlds. Scadrial will likely have ships to travel in future Mistborn books. First of the Sun claims The Ones Above have visited them. Do these three planets share the same planetary system? 2. Do Yolen, Nalthis, Taldain, and Sel share their own planetary system. One orbiting around Sel's yellow sun? 3. We're told there are other uninhabitable planets not mentioned in the Greater Roshar System. How many?
  25. Ah okay. Sorry about that. Haven't been a forum goer for many moons. Hmm. Good points. For now I'll probably keep the unknown planet placements separate from what I've already established as headcanon. Again, I hope this to be an ever changing map, updated yearly as information is delivered.
