the orders go fishing
Skybreaker: flies around making sure everyone has an up to date fishing licence and is using legal fishing methods
Dustbringer: is using dynamite (skybreaker is not amused)
Edgedancer: remembers a great fishing spot everyone else has forgotten
Truthwatcher : foresees where the best fishing will be
Lightweaver: lightweaves an image of a giant fish and claims they caught it
Elsecaller: first soulcasts a ring of stone around a section of water then they turns the water into air and collect the fish at their leisure
Willshaper: was last seen paddling over the horizon
Stoneward: hooked a shark and was pulled out of their boat, stubbornly refuses to let go of the pole
Windrunner: Saving the Stoneward, despite them claiming they don't need help
Bondsmith: trying to unite everyone to work together and catch more fish

just finished the Genesis fleet, the series started out so strong but but book three felt very rushed, like the author wanted to originally do a four book series but decided to wrap things up after he was almost finished writing book three as a result we never get to see any of the final battle despite all the build up, the villains pretty much defeat themselves by overstretching their resources. also the characters felt very generic, it was almost like I was reading the cast of the main series rather than their ancestors.

Why does someone always have to die?

I'm not sure but it does feel like the 17th shard has been particularly bloodthirsty of late. There always seems to be a who will die thread on the main stormlight page.

Been playing Valkyria Chronicles 4 and I gotta say it's pretty awesome, excellent story and game play the one thing that I have to say annoyed me was how lancers have become pretty much useless. also the last level is buggy as heck watching my sniper bullets ricochet off thin air was funny when I was trying to just beat the game but now that I'm trying to beat it on hard mode (which cut's you down to just 10 turns) it's getting irritating.

I always thought of Nightblood as having a happy upbeat voice. Until someone draws him, as soon as he leaves the sheath I read his voice as dark and ominous.

Parshmen discover lawyerform and refuse to work with Odium unless he ups their pension and lowers the retirement age.
Odium throws them out of his organisation and goes back to using humans there are enough villains in the story already without adding lawyers to the mix

Brian Jacques, I've read just about all of the Redwall series except the Rogue Crew which I bought but I couldn't finish, not because it was bad but because I know that once I finish it that's it there's nothing else in the series it's the end.

Needed a book to read after the gathering storm came out and I thought hey the coauthor seemed pretty good I wonder if he has any good books so I checked and found WOK. While it did give me something to read while I waited for the last two WOT books the cure turned out to be worse that the disease since I now had to wait for WOR.

309. Go back and reread rule 200. it can not be overstated
310. If a beautiful member of the opposite gender turns up under mysterious circumstances and asks for your help kill them immediately they were undoubtedly a spy/assassin/ traitor/some combination of the above and they were never actually in any real danger anyway.

This is like asking me to pick a diamond out of a pile of diamonds
If I had to pick one though WOR I have lost count of how many times I have re read that book and each time I notice some small but important detail that I missed before. Six of Dusk would probably be a close second though.

Can't wait to see Nightblood in Roshar. Assuming he feeds on Stormlight rather than breath, he's going to be much "cheaper" to use. Loved the interactions with Vivenna.
Brandon Sanderson
Cheaper indeed. But don't underestimate his hunger.

This is what I've been thinking, Nightblood is on Roshar as a field test to see what he does against Odiums forces. Lets face it if you have a supper weapon you aren't going to wait until the enemy is a your door to find out if it actually works. Personally I can't wait to see what it'll do to an unmade.

granted you can recall everything you've ever seen and done but only in situations where the memory in question is irrelevant
I wish to always be able to know what Brandons secret projects are before he unveils them.

I think we've gone off topic again.... Isn't there a general discussion page you guys could take some of these topics? Linguistics, oppression and prejudice are good topics to discuss, but I kinda came here to talk about things taking place in a fictional world and theorize in regards to fiction....
Just saying.

Seconded.
So just trying to get things back on topic what do all of you think about the Voidbringers. Are they justified in waging war on the rest of Roshar?
Personally I find this one of the most fascinating parts of the series, at first their justifications seem reasonable: the humans invaded took our homes and enslaved us, we are the natives of Roshar we should ensure that they will never be able to harm us again.
However WOB and Oathbringer both have already poked several holes in their justifications There were two especially big one's that I noticed. First off we know from WOB that the first wave of humans (Horneaters, Herdazians and possibly others) turned up long before the first Desolation and even crossbred with the listeners so they have a valid claim to their homes, yet from what Rocks wife tells us the Voidbringers are implied to have taken over the peaks. Second in Oathbringer we find that the Aimians who as far as we know are also Natives of Roshar fought on the side of the Radiant's so why would the voidbringers stand against their fellow Rosharians if their cause was justified.

Granted the spike makes it to heavy to fly so It just sits on your shoulder and talks about how it blames you for not being able to fly.
I wish people would stop trying to use boons to get themselves out of banes or barring that I wish the banes got progressively worse.

Started trying my hand at Dwarf fortress and yes it is just as complicated as they say although the Newb pack certainly helps. I had to abandon my first fortress after the frame rate hit rock bottom and I couldn't really do anything but I've had more success with my second one since I've killed all unnecessary animals and set my population cap lower. I have yet to encounter a mega beast but forgotten beasts keep crawling out of the depths every couple of years or so. But I'm not too worried about them since my fortress champion destroyed the latest one with a single hit, even better he did it in copper armor.

I'm just going to have to deal with it I guess. I know people will tell me that I am wrong, and maybe I am, but I really really hate it when protags get killed in the final chapter of a story. It's supposed to make people sad, and if it does, then the author has done their job well. Perhaps it's because of my own real world anxiety and depression issues that I seem to feel it more than others do, not sure.
It's true that not everything has to be sunshine and roses all the time, and I do not expect it to, but it bothers me anyway. *Shrugs.

Could also be that my first exposure was the Mistborn Trilogy and I see them all as "mine" or the Mascots of the Cosmere now, or some other reason. Or maybe I am just stupidly overthinking it, another extremely bad habit of mine.
Thanks for all the replies in this topic though, everyone.

Well when you read AU I'd encourage you to pay special attention to Edgdancer it's subtle but there are some similarities between our little Reshi protagonist and Vin. Admittedly it probably wasn't intentional and Sanderson just let a little bit of Vin bleed into Lift due to their backstories. But after going through it I can't help but wonder if maybe reincarnation is a thing in the Cosmer. I doubt it, but I do hope Sanderson deliberately leaves some of Lift vague so we can draw our own conclusions about her similarities to vin being pure chance or something more.

I honestly can't remember what Fantasy book I read first I think it might have been harry potter but it also might be Redwall my introduction to fantasy was actually from the Hobbit which my father had as a book on tape (actual cassette tapes) and he convinced me to listen to them since I was like three and hadn't learned to read yet.

Agreed Thrawn is one of the best villains that star wars ever came up with... shame about what happened to the series
going into anime and manga Acnologia who I enjoyed just because he provided such contrast to the main big bad Zerf spoilers if you haven't read the end of the series yet
Spoilerwhile Zerf needed to be dragged down the path to evil after having everything taken from him over and over, finally just giving up and saying fine let me be evil. Achnologia merely needed a good push (his family getting killed) to get started down the path to villainy and after he avenged them he gleefully continued down that path entirely out of his own free will.
also Za major if you've seen Hellsing ultimate if only because of his war speech
for Video games the Overlord, is it wrong that I loved playing him as an evil monster... every single time.

I'm not sure but there was a WOB (i can't find it right now) that said that the first wave of humans came to Roshar before Honor and Cultivation so possibly pre shattering cross bred with the parsh people and the Horneaters and the Herdazians are their descendants
