Dalinar uses Smokestance in one of his flashbacks, mentioning that it's the best stance for a sword and knife combo. Based on that, I don't think it's unreasonable that some Radiants/Nobles preferred a one-handed sword.

Since we don't have an official artwork of Parshendi, this is perfectly fine.
On that subject, we've never really seen a Nightform anyway, so this is good enough headcanon for it.
