  1. Can you create one who always knows exactly what events should be included in a flashback sequence? Because I could use his help.
  2. I have nothing to add to this conversation, but this clip seemed oddly appropriate.
  3. Now I kind of hope none of you ever see me IRL. I have the feeling you'd be terribly disappointed.
  4. The funniest part of this is that if you saw me on the street, you'd probably never say, "Oh, she looks like she writes Doctor Funtimes!"
  5. It just occurred to me: Newcago has a very regimented society, where the rights you have are determined by your power level (well, until Conflux blows that story to smithereens, but that's beside the point). What if the Newcago definition of High Epic encompasses everyone with strong powers that make easy assassination impossible, while the Lorist definition excludes everyone who doesn't have some form of immortality or projectile deflection? David's correction of himself in Firefight could then be taken as his attempts to switch over to "proper" Lorist classification while trying to rewrite the definition he's used for the past few years.
  6. Ha! You caught me on a rare T-shirt-and-jeans day, so I can plausibly deny your claim that I spend all my time dressed like Doctor Funtimes.
  7. It's impossible to say for sure until we read Calamity, but given how he acted and the things he said in Firefight, I think his weakness has something to do with mankind's darker nature. Perhaps some senseless act of violence—a crime committed against his family, a newsworthy tragedy that hit too close to home—where the only motive was "Because I wanted to" inspired him to become a preacher. Reminders of that tragedy might remind him that not all people want to change, and might make him think that this sort of evil is spreading and will continue to spread unless he stops it.
  8. Full disclosure: I am still reading Way of Kings. This meme does not reflect any upcoming twists that may make me reconsider the opinion expressed therein. Also, it probably makes me a terrible person for thinking of it.
  9. Excellent question, Winter. For millennia, mankind has asked himself this very question: Where am I? It pertains not only to physical location—though when it does, the answer will give valuable insight that may prevent the asker from wandering the desert—but also to personal and spiritual development. Where am I in the grand scheme of the universe? Where am I in the great plan for time itself? Does time have a plan, or does it exist like the rest of us, whiling away the long hours before it itself expires and we are all stranded in a timeless void? Where am I in my own plan for my life? Did I create one, and if so, how is it going? Of course, the ramifications of the simple question where am I? pale in comparison to those raised by the question why am I? …. Oh, you meant in the comic? Um…not sure.
  10. Where is he mentioned? I thought he was only given a passing mention in Steelheart.
  11. Depends. Do you want to suggest Dark!Voidgaze?
  12. Is that one in the middle supposed to be me? C'mon, I would never wear a purple business suit and you know it.
  13. Curtailing actual news in favor of the trivially bizarre. Now where have I heard that before?
  14. Very generic question: Will I learn what that is in this book, or in Words of Radiance? Yay! A pun I don't have to read the entire book to grasp! I like this idea.
  15. The Manic Yandere Society of Greater Oregon (Saccharine, Funtimes, Shiny Sparkle)
  16. There was a WoB a while back where he said less powerful Epics like Curveball don't go through Rendings, while powerful Epics do.
  17. Who needs an army of Lifeless when you have an army of Awakened teddy bears?
  18. At 12% progress in Way of Kings, I conclude that Funtimes' power is like Soulcasting on steroids. And she uses it to turn bullets into jellybeans and leaves into pancakes. I have the distinct feeling many on Roshar would declare her a heretic.
  19. For some reason, I'm now imagining an in-universe movie called An Inconvenient Fracking.
  20. Whaaaaat? I totally wanted Sanderson to make it the Frazzling in later books. Totally serious about that.
  21. High Epics are from Denver and Seattle, duh.
  22. If the Cops Don't Exist Anymore, Tell Me How to Kill that Guy (anyone who has ever met Nighthound, except Lucentia and Red)
  23. It occurred to me today that Oregon characters share a lot of unique problems, the sort that, if someone in our world started a support group for that problem, maybe one person would show up. But in Oregon, this is not the case. For instance, we have.... People with Self-Proclaimed Partners Who Could Kill You With a Thought (Nathan and Autumn) I'm Not Sure "Friendship" Is What We Have Here (Sam, Revolution, arguably everyone in the Empire) Coping with Frenemies in Non-Murderous Ways (Altermind, Lightwards) Any ofher unusual support groups that would fill up fast in Oregon?
