WiedzminJelon Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 Hello everyone! My name is Marcin and I'm a Sanderson fan from Poland. I just decided to create a profile here, but I'm familiar with almost every Brandon Sanderson book so far. I always wanted to find a group of people like you, knowing a lot of stuff from Cosmere. Nice to meet you! I hope I will find here a lot of interesing facts about my favorite books. I'm counting on you! 1
Honorless he/him Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 Hello Marcin! Let me the first to welcome you to our little corner on the internet and also ask you some questions if you don't mind. How did you come upon Brandon Sanderson's work? What's your favourite book by him (so far)? 1
WiedzminJelon Posted February 7, 2020 Author Posted February 7, 2020 Hello there! I will answer the first question first, because it's much easier and it's kinda funny. There was a time, when I had a lot of free time and decided to buy some new books. I came into a book store and wanted to get the biggest fantasy book, I can find. It was The Way of Kings and so my adventure with Sanderson began. Answering to your second question...hard to decide, but it's also The Way of Kings, or i should rather say, the whole series beggining with that book. It's because my favorite characters come from Stormlight Archives - especially Kaladin, but also Dalinar.
Honorless he/him Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 (edited) Kaladin's my favourite too Is there anything about the books or Brandon's writing style that you don't like? Edited February 7, 2020 by Honorless 1
Aon Tia she/her Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Welcome to the shard Marcin ! Kaladin followed by Dalinar are my two favourite characters as well. Least favourite character? 1

Well, at the beginning I was confused because of the amount of stuff - side characters, huge world, maybe a little bit slow story development sometimes. Fortunately, it was an issue only at the start, now I really appreciate that. Something I don't like about his writing? As a joke I could say, that he could write, but that's the only thing that came to my mind

It's very subjective and is highly correlated with the fact, that I identify with Kaladin What's your's least favorite one? 1
Honorless he/him Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Yeah, that dude can write, like seriously, yuf! So, who are your other favourite authors?

My adventure with fantasy started with Terry Goodkind and his Sword of Thruth,so it's still one of my favorites, but after some time his style started to bore me.The story is still interesting though. I also like some my native writers, like Sapkowski (The Witcher saga) and Jarosław Grzędowicz (The Lord of the Ice Garden). Currently I'm also reading Brent Weeks (The Black Prism) and I'm familiar with his Blach Angel trilogy. Oh, and there is also The Name of the Wind from Patrick Rothfuss. These are not all, but the most interesting ones. What about you? Is there a world outside Sanderson?

And Straff Venture and Zane from mistborn. 1 hour ago, WiedzminJelon said: What about you? Is there a world outside Sanderson Hmm let’s see. I am reading Malazan Till book 4 part 1 but currently I am rereading mistborn era 2 and then off to stormlight. I have also read Robin hobb, Rothfus to name a couple. I also want To read Michael j Sullivan 1

I've diversified my reading mediums to include web serials like Worm, Mother of Learning, Ra etc Currently I'm thinking about going back to finish Sylvain Neuvel's Sleeping Gods series. Maybe pick up the Book of Dust. Or a China Miéville book... we'll see. Currently going through by LGBT reading list though, so it'll be a while before I pick up my other reading lists. Plus uni. Hmm, the first real novel I read was Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines & Here Lies Arthur, and like many others from my generation, I was drawn in by Rick Riordan into the world of low-fantasy, more with Pat Walsh (& Cassandra Clare, but I'm over her). First high fantasy was, predictably, Lord of the Rings as well as Narnia. 1

Honorless he/him Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Kaladin is my favourite Stormlight character too. I actually stopped hating Amaram after reading Jasnah's description of the guy, he started seeming more... pitiably pathetic. Sadeas was evil but also kind of interesting. This left me with hating Hashal and her husband Matal, the Bridgecrews managers the most. So what's your favourite Order of the Knights Radiant? And which one do you think you'll actually join?

I have not read the return of The King, last one. It is good but may be one day I will finish it. 3 hours ago, HawkFan said: I wonder how many found Sanderson the same way I did..... when he finished the Wheel of Time series. I read Elantris first and then mistborn. I wanted to wait reading SA till OB actually comes out I then read Wheel of time to pass the time for waiting for OB. After reading SA, after finishing OB, I joined here. 1

I agree, that Amaram is not totally evil. There are probably very few such individuals and you can find some good intentions in many of them, even if they act...brutal. The most confunding character for example is Taravangian. I'm still not sure, what to think about him. My favorite Orders are Windrinners and Bondsmiths, but Windrunners better suits my character. I like being "support" for others and that's what they should do. How about you?

Self awareness, self actualization and self acceptance. Regardless of all moral quandaries, we should all try to be honest with ourselves.
