FridgedCrisis he/him Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Any of the ideals Kaladin says especially “I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right” Sends shivers down my spine every time I get to that part of the book 1
Kaladin-Stormblessed Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 (edited) "I understood in a moment of stillness, Those candle flames were like the lives of men. So fragile. So deadly. Left alone, they lit and warmed. Let run rampant, they would destroy the very things they were meant to illuminate. Embryonic bonfires, each bearing a seed of destruction so potent it could tumble cities and dash kings to their knees. In later years, my mind would return to that calm, silent evening, when I had stared at rows of living lights. And I would understand. To be given loyalty is to be infused like a gemstone, to be granted the frightful license to destroy not only one’s self, but all within one’s care" - The way of Kings Edited October 17, 2019 by Kaladin-Stormblessed
Elend Venture he/him Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 "Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do." - Kaladin Stormblessed 2
Aon Tia she/her Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Quote “How…” Dalinar said. “You fell into a chasm!” “I fell face-first, sir,” Kaladin said, “and fortunately, I’m particularly hard-headed.” 5
SirWolfe Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 "I think, in answer to my question ... I think it only takes one." - Hoid, Oathbringer Epilogue, after wondering about how many people need to enjoy a piece of art to make it worthwhile to endure the hate from others. What I really loved about it was the context, and the buildup to his answer through the epilogue. 3
