Atium he/him Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 I'm new to the cosmere and I don't know any WOB's so I might be wrong somewere in here. From mistborn Secret History, the drifter said that Kelseir destroyed a way from into Scadiral by destoying the pits, I also read somewhere that the atium won't "regrow" for 300 years. So i'm thinking that if the atium regrows and is in the lost metal, will the Perpendiculaity return I also don't know how to work the tags section if someone could please help me with that. 3

You could argue that maybe, since the powers of Ruin exceed those of Preservation within Harmony, Saze could be using the extra Ruin to form a new perpendicular. However, we would expect atium generation if Ruin had a new pool, and we have a WoB about how there is no new Atium being formed. Therefore, we can assume the extra Ruin is going somewhere else to keep Harmony balanced, and that there is no new Ruin pool. 1
Atium he/him Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 I thought that the shards ruin and preservation were separate because in Hero of Ages, When Sazed picked up both of the shards, the shards began to intermingle but both of the shards are still there. 1
HSuperLee Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 It's a bit more complicated than that. As best I can understand it, Harmony works like mixed colors. When you mix res and blue, you get purple. Is purple it's own color, yes. Is purple both red and blue just occupying the same space, yes. We know that should Saze die, he would drop Harmony, not Ruin and Preservation. And they have been intermingled enough that it would require effort to separate them again.

Sazed could probably manifest the equivalnet to atium if he wanted, but a natural Ruinous perpendicularity would not occur, because Ruin is part of Harmony now. They're intermingled, as @HSuperLee described.
