Matrim Bloody Cauthon he/him Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I have only gone ice skating once when I was 5 I think. I live by a pond and see people ice skating on it all the time in winter but I've never felt the inclination to join in.

Khyrindor he/him Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Not in Canada. In December, it gets so cold that there's like 4 metres of ice.
Queen Elsa Steelheart she/her Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Wow... Sounds like a winter wonderland! I heard that the snow can get you stuck indoors, is that true?
Khyrindor he/him Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 It can if it piles up in front of your door. And trust me. -60 degrees is not fun.
Queen Elsa Steelheart she/her Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 -60!!! Wow!! That's absolutly freezing!! Is that the coldest it gets?
Khyrindor he/him Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Its the coldest I've seen. It was in Celcius though, not sure what you use in Austrailia, but its around -76 F.
Matrim Bloody Cauthon he/him Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Does it ever collapse in places ? not really people check to see how thick the ice is before they go out on the ice.
Khyrindor he/him Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I don't think people here do. XD They just go on once they think its safe.

It was in Celcius though, not sure what you use in Austrailia, but its around -76 F.We use degrees, but that would still be freezing. It would be around -59 degrees How do you even live in weather that cold? Queen Elsa Steelheart she/her Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Stay inside. lolGuess no snowball fights then What's the longest time you have gotten stuck inside cause of the snow?
Queen Elsa Steelheart she/her Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Well...I usually stay inside anyway.Oh... Snow sounds really cool though. (See what I did there ?) 1
Khyrindor he/him Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I don't have a problem with snow, its the cold. (No I didn't, tell me?)
Queen Elsa Steelheart she/her Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 I don't have a problem with snow, its the cold. (No I didn't, tell me?)The pun was snow is cool and cool is cold.Double word. I really wanna build a snowman right now, even though its completely sunny and it doesn't even snow here
Khyrindor he/him Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Usually (where I am anyway), you can't actually build snowmen because the snow isn't warm enough. It has to be closer to 0 degrees and it doesn't get that warm until April. So people build ice sculptures instead. They are cooler anyway.

And you can have an upvote if you realised this was me and not Elsa straight away =)

Delightful Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 What do they build ice sculptures of? And are they good? See I answered it for you
Khyrindor he/him Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Anything really. I've seen mini castles that you can walk in (made by professionals), but where I live they did an amateur contest and they were mostly animals and stuff. They can be awesome. Some people dye them though and it kinda ruins it (to me, anyway). The castle that I saw though was clear like glass. I know a guy who can make a snowfort and carve real-looking faces in it, and then shine lights through them. Its cool. 1
Delightful Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 What do you dye ice with? (So iI find it hilarious that Elsa and I, the Australians, have taken on the personas of Elsa and kind of Anna, from Norway. Yet we know nothing about ice. Or snow. Or cold).
Khyrindor he/him Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I haven't done an ice sculpture before actually. I don't go outside much in the winter. But I think they just use spray paint.
Delightful Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Oh. I was picturing injecting food colouring into the ice or something. Spray paint is much less exciting.
Khyrindor he/him Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 haha. Food coloring would take so long lol. I think the best one I saw this year were two Dispicable Me minions.
