New user can’t post?

Hi! New user here. Tried to post on a thread after creating my account and was given a message that I couldn’t post as a new user as a deterrent for spam...until I had posted a few times? Clarification please? Thanks!

There's a spam filter that prevents people from posting links with less than 2 posts. Were you posting links? If so, to which site? I can alter these settings to make it less obtrusive by adding sites to the whitelist. Once you get three posts this restriction goes away. You should only be affected by this by posting links.

(We have a pretty big spam problem, as most would notice, and this has helped mitigate it immensely.)

Thanks for replying. I was trying to post to the general book memes thread. Yes it was a link. I posted a few times on another thread (no link), as you were saying, and the restriction was lifted. Sorry, I’m new and just figuring stuff out.
