Tglassy
Not sure if this thread is here, but I'm new and I'm not going to sift through hundreds of pages worth of threads just to keep from being redundant. Also, forgive my spellings of these things. I've only ever heard the audiobooks, though I've gone through each three times. So, we know that you can make an alloy of Atium, or Laresium, and create a new set of 16 powers each. That's a lot of powers. Supposedly, same with Harmonium, but we may never get to see that due to the nature of Harmonium. Laresium is a tough one, because from what I can remember, there's a WoB that says that Laresium has an affect that isn't "Make you a mist born". Just by its nature, it grants you a connection to Preservation when you swallow it and burn it, which anyone can do. But it also has its own effect, same as Atium. A Mistborn who burns Laresium would be able to do something else with it, besides strengthen their connection with Preservation. But since that's never been seen, we can't even extrapolate on it. There's just not enough information. However, Atium is another story. We've seen what burning Atium does, and we've seen one alloy metal, the Eleventh Metal, Malatium. It's an alloy of Atium and Gold, if I'm not mistaken. So what's it's effect? It allows you to see an alternate version of the people around you. That seems to be weird, until you see that Gold allows you to see an alternate version of YOURSELF. So, by extrapolation, it would appear to me that Atium Alloys take the power of the metal and flip them. So lets look at some rules. Metals push or pull. Gold pulls a past version of yourself to you, and electrum pushes a future version of yourself from you. Gold and Electrum are also the Internal Temporal metals. Malatium does the exact same thing as Gold, only allowing you to view the past on other people, so it still pulls, and its still temporal, and really, it's still internal, but it just isn't internal to YOU. You are not the focus of the metal. Other people are. It allows you to see other people's gold shadows. Or what they would see if they burned gold. Atrium itself does something like this, allowing you to see OTHER people's futures. Which, if extrapolated from Malatium and Gold, seems an awful lot like an Atium+Electrum alloy. Instead of seeing your own possible futures, you see other people's. That's really the main problem with my following chart, is that Atium and (A)Electrum seem to share the same power. Probably, it would be slightly different, though, so I'll think about it. Anyway, extrapolating from what Malatium does when Atium is alloyed with Gold, here's what I think Atium Alloy's powers would be: Iron/Steel: Normal: External Physical Pulling/Pushing = Pull/Push Metals, centered on one's self Atium Alloy: I believe this would allow an Allomancer to see the blue metal lines between other sources of metal. So instead of having two coins and seeing a line go from himself to the coins, he would see a line connecting the two coins. As long as they were close enough, the Allomancer would be able to cause those metals to either pull closer to each other, or push away from each other, depending on the exact metal used in the Alloy. This, combined with normal Iron/Steel, grants a much, much higher level of control over the pushes and pulls. Downside: no flying, as it doesn't affect one's self. Pewter/Tin Normal: Internal Physical Pulling/Pushing. Enhance phsyical attributes/physical senses in one's self Atium Alloy: Similar to how Necrosil is basically Aluminum used on others, and same with Daralamin and Chromium, I'm thinking this would enhance the people around the Allomancer, creating a "Strike Force". It would probably burn very fast, and probably be diluted depending on the number of people effected, but could be amazing. Instead of having one Thug, you'd have a Thug Maker, one man in the group that gives everyone a boost to either their physical abilities or senses. The alternative is to be debilitating. Instead of pushing on your own body with pewter, enhancing it, you push on someone else's, debilitating it, making them weaker. Same with Tin, instead of enhancing someone else's senses, you deaden them. That might actually fit better with Atium being of Ruin. Perhaps a Laresium alloy of Pewter or Tin would make them beneficial to others. Note: I could be way off about this, but it seems to fit the way Malatium worked. Brass/Zinc Normal: External Mental Pushing/Pulling. Soothe or Riot the emotions of others. Atium Alloy: I'm not sure about this one, since these already affect other people. Perhaps it would be something similar to these, but fundamentally different, such as instead of pushing and pulling on emotions, you'd push and pull on their...I don't know, their perceptions? Their ability to notice you, or anything for that matter? Copper/Bronze Normal: Internal Mental Pushing/Pulling. Able to hide powers or discover their use Atium Alloy: Perhaps an alloy of copper could make it seem as if Allomantic Pulses were originating from someone else, giving a "false positive" of sorts? Similar to normal Copper, which hides pulses, this would instead misdirect. An alloy of Bronze may grant others the ability to hear Allomantic Pulses, as well. Gold/Electrum Normal: Internal Temporal Pushing/Pulling. Creates a Gold/Electrum Shadow, showing either one's possible past, or one's possible future. Malatium: Known alloy of Gold and Atium, which shows Other People's gold shadows. An alloy with Electrum might function similarly to normal Atium, but would likely have some differences. Perhaps, as an inversion, (A)Electrum would show other people your/their future shadows. Cadmium/Bendaloy Normal: External Temporal Pushing/Pulling. Creates time bubbles, either slowing down or speeding up time within them. Atium Alloy: Possibly creating bubbles around others, or perhaps doing something funky with time, such as teleportation or whatnot. One teleports one's self, the other makes other people teleport (like, touching someone and porting them somewhere else). The External Temporal powers are similar to the External Mental powers, in that they would likely be related, but not exact inverses, since they are already inverses of themselves. Nicrosil/Chromium/Aluminum/Duralamin Normal: External/Internal Enhancement Pushing/Pulling. Either leach or boost Allomantic powers, either in one's self or others Atium Alloy: These two are already the direct inverse of themselves, one pair affecting the self and the other affecting others. Perhaps one would grant allomancy to a target while being burned? Like, you touch someone and they can burn metals while you burn yours? That might be more of a Leresium thing, I know that a Laresium Alloy would make one a Misting of the metal in question, as well as having its own effect. I don't know, these are harder than the others. Thoughts?
Calderis he/him
They're good thoughts, and I can see how you arrived at them. Unfortunately, we've been told this isn't how atium alloys work. Quote Maru Nui What would an atium-electrum alloy do in Allomancy? Brandon Sanderson The alloys of atium have various temporal effects. Footnote: The Allomancy chart poster reveals that atium alloys have various temporal and mental effects.source
