Arin
During one of Dalinar's visions we see that he was in Kholinar with Nohadan. What is the connection between the Kholin name and the city? Did his name come from the city or did the city name come from his family? Just a guess here, but maybe the city was named for Nohadan's family name and Dalinar is related. More guesses here, but maybe that is why the visions appear to Gavilar, Dalinar and the potter(maybe the potter was a cousin or something). So when his decendants read his book they get the visions.
Khyrindor
The visions were from the Stormfather, who Dalinar bonded with. Kholinar is named for the king.
Vessyr
If you look at the map of Alethkar that is immediately before the prologue in WoK. You will see dotted lines that show the boundaries of the seperate princedoms. Kholinar is in Kholin. So most likely it is a city-state that was appropriated from Kholin. It rules Alethkar from inside Kholin territory but isn't subject to Khloin law.
Arin
The visions started after Gavilar then Dalinar read WoK, which was written by Nohadon. My main point with the name was that Kholinar has been around for a long time and it got its name from somewhere. It is the same place the Kholin family got the name. I thought it may be from Nohadon.
