Gyth he/him Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 The latest Q&A someone asked: Q: Will a Radiant using an honorblade get those surges, too? A: Yes, "it is possible to get multiples." So what surge combo would you want to see? It may be kinda early for this questions considering we don't know a whole lot, but lots of cool implications. Or dangerous baddies. 1
Terra of Roshar she/her Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I want Kaladin to get one with Growth, so he can heal people. Probably not going to happen, since most of them seem to be in Shinovar and he's going back to Alethkar, but still. 4
Seloun Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Lift + Elsecaller Honorblade. Lift Soulcasts a boulder into food, and consumes it to get more Stormlight than used to make the food => infinity combo! Lift with unlimited Stormlight and Transportation => ultimate medevac The Lightweaver Honorblade could work too, but I think Transportation is probably more useful than Illumination. Alternatively have Lift dual wield the Elsecaller blade and the Windrunner blade for infinity-lashing railguns. Lift is just a gamebreaker due to her food->stormlight conversion. 5
Swimmingly he/him Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 It occurs to me that, for lift, a power bar is exactly that. 12
Chrono she/her Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Hrm. Dustbringer/Truthwatcher combo. The ultimate DPS. Blow stuff up, then heal if wounded. If not that, then Kaladin with Pailiah's blade would be most excellent. He could finally be both a healer and a soldier. As a random aside, maybe the reason why Renarin is not good at fighting is because he was always meant to be a healer. Anytime he's mentioned with his Shardplate, he's stated to look awkward in it. I just think the poor kid isn't meant for the front lines. Not to mention his screaming Shardblade.
digitalbusker he/him Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Lift + Elsecaller Honorblade. Lift Soulcasts a boulder into food, and consumes it to get more Stormlight than used to make the food => infinity combo! I always wondered why Honorblades were less efficient than the Nahel bond. I think you may have stumbled on the meta reason.
Guest Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 My favorite: Adolin as a Dustbringer dual wielding his previously dead shardblade together with the Windrunner's honorblade. Now, that would be something to see.

Now, that would be something to see. As awesome as that would be, the Shardblade would scream if he was a dustbringer and I think it would take some serious mental fortitude to fight with that scream in your head, a fortitude that I don't see Adolin possessing. No but by then, his shardblade would have become his spren.... He would have revived it, so it wouldn't be screaming Anyway, I wonder if we are going to see one character put up a real fight with a screaming shardblade? If so, then I think Adolin would indeed be a likely candidate. He seems quite strong so far, but I guess we have yet to see how he will handle the ramifications of WoR ending.

Ahh I see I guess I didn't read it quite right, I have actually always liked the idea that Adolin would revive his shardblade. And I feel like Kaladin would probably be more likely to be able to fight with dead shard blade, even though I seriously doubt he will try, I say mental fortitude for a reason, the screaming would hurt your mind, Adolin is used to being very good at combat but I Don't think he is used to that kind of pain, Kaladin and maybe Szeth could do it, Szeth already hears screams, and that kind of mental pain is something you learn to block out when you are in a position of little self worth such as being a bridgeman.
Terisen he/him Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Kaladin with the Dustbringer Honorblade. Death to Voidbringers raining down from the skies!
Shaggai Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Skybreaker Szeth with Nightblood and the Elsecaller Honorblade. He would basically be unstoppable.
Terisen he/him Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Skybreaker Szeth with Nightblood and the Elsecaller Honorblade. He would basically be unstoppable. The sheer amount of Stormlight he'd have to hold to make that work is staggering. He'd have to be followed around by his own personal highstorm!
Shaggai Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 The sheer amount of Stormlight he'd have to hold to make that work is staggering. He'd have to be followed around by his own personal highstorm! Well, he does have Gravitation. He could probably fly around the planet at enough speed to stay continuously within the Highstorm. He wouldn't need to be afraid of having anything run into him - with Division and Transportation, not to mention Nightblood, he could disintegrate all the debris that appeared to be heading towards him.

Oh I agree about Szeth. He is our most likely candidate. I am not sure about Kal though: he wouldn't even touch the shardblade during training sessions with Zahel.

Yeh but I think he would do it if he was forced to, say, for some reason, Syl was unable to act as his shardblade for a single battle and the only weapon available to Kaladin is a dead shardblade, he is versing a full shardbarer, he would do it just to stay alive, he wouldn't keep it after beating the crap out of the shardbarer he would give it to someone who could use it better.

I would rather it it weren't Kal. He already is badass unbeatable fighter: I feel it would be too much. If we are to see such a plotline, I would prefer if it were about another character. Szeth, despite my current dislike of him, is a good choice.
Moogle Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 If we assume that Transportation lets you do any Surge at a distance, I'd like to see a Skybreaker with the Elsecaller or Willshaper Honorblade. Ranged Lashings have the potential to be the most ridiculous thing imaginable, not to mention ranged Division, which sounds like you get a death laser.

In the books there's certainly the possibility that we might get an Elsecaller with the Windrunner Honorblade, if Jasnah comes back to the rest of the Kholins. No ranged Division, but Adhesion is atmospheric pressure. There's no way it's limited to just the Full Lashing, so it could probably result in the ability to blow things up at a distance. Get Jasnah to go into the middle of a highstorm wielding the Honorblade and you've now got an Elsecaller/Windrunner with practically unlimited Stormlight.
