(Sort of like Kaladin going catatonic in Kholinar). I hope it won't happen. Brandon can over-play his characters when the fancy takes him and I do think he has over-played Shallan in OB. My thoughts are what her character needs is a positive story arc where she acts for other people's benefit, not another arc where she breaks down, she becomes unassuming and he lies again to everyone/herself. This has gotten repetitive and, at one point, having her character constantly regress is not only going to sound redundant, it is going to harm her character. Shallan's character has had little to no successes within the story so far. Even when she did accomplish something, it seemed to come at an impossible price. Each event where she takes actions end up in her needing to be intensively cared for, nurtured for. This has gone one for enough time already: I think it is time for Shallan's character to grow up, to take responsibilities and to not have an arc which shows regression in any visible way. Will it happen? I do not know, I'll admit this is my personal wish.

YES! Shallan has had a significant impact through her lightweaving. But when she is more herself, drawing what people are capable of, that is when we see ( in my opinion) the best of her. Love to see her have a win after the struggles in OB. 1

These are my thoughts too. After OB, I do feel her character is in need of a story arc where she uses her skills solve issues, to make their quest progress. I would love to read Shallan being the strong one instead of always being the one everyone needs to pick up from the ground. Shallan is strong: I want to read it. It is time or so I feel.
