YKDG22
So, at the end of a Desolation the Heralds go to Damnation to be tortured by Odium until one breaks which starts the next Desolation and their return. And it is assumed that the 10 Fools are the Heralds who abandoned the Oathpact and remained on Roshar. Here's my question: Why is it 10 Fools if Taln went to Damnation and wasn't on Roshar? Have the Heralds previously abandoned the Oathpact and Taln did it before? Or should it just be 9 Fools?
Scion of the Mists
I haven't seen anywhere that the Fools are the Heralds, just that they correspond to the Heralds. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/194-general-reddit-2011/#e4157 Quote gunslingers The number 10 seems to be a recurring theme in this world. Are the "ten fools" the antithesis of the ten orders of the knights radiant? Brandon Sanderson Yes, ten is a number of mythological import in the world. The Ten Fools are, essentially, the opposites of the Ten Heralds--who each represented an ideal. (Those ideals were later adopted by the orders of Knights Radiant, so yes, there is a connection--but there's a step between them.)
