stonedshaman Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 So after looking back through 3 pages of the oathbringer spoiler board I saw nothing about this and as necromancy is frowned upon (take that Arthas) I decided to start a new topic. Others any info out there as to the abilities of Mraize's Aviar? So far the only abilities I have seen is the ability to mask ones mind presence? And in one case some futuresight applied to deaths of said Aviars bonded. So if it is one of these abilities which do you think and or did Mraize get a new ability? Thank you for your time and have a glorious day 1
Toaster Retribution he/him Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I think Mraize has something new. The situation in which he uses it (a servant Ialai) probably hints at what it can do. He wouldn't bring it unless he didn't need it. Upvote for the Arthas reference :-D
MonsterMetroid Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 @JoyBlu asked some pretty interesting questions to Brandon that might shed some light, but not as much as we might like. Quote JoyBlu [PENDING REVIEW] So the color of the green chicken. In Sixth of the Dusk, there's a green and white Aviar and there's a green and red <indistinguishable> plumes. Is green important? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] I'll RAFO that. So there may be something to do with the colors but of course since we didn't get a confirmation we cant know. I feel like Mraize had to bring the bird for a specific purpose or in case of a possible situation. This kind of leads me to believing that it has some sort of cognitive function whether it is blocking emotional manipulation or it is actually causing it I don't know. 1
JoyBlu she/her Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 (edited) Thanks @MonsterMetroid for tagging me so I saw this thread. I have been very interested in this topic. @stonedshaman there is a thread I will link you to that does discuss the chicken’s abilities but there is no conclusion @taxilian had a conversation with Brandon while Brandon was signing books that indicated that there were clues about the power of the Aviar in some (or one) of the cosmere books. I bet we can figure it out. Personally, I am now wondering if those clues are in WarBreaker. I am planning a reread but there were lots of birds in WarBreaker (tortured ones too) that I didn’t give the attention they deserved the last time I read. @ccstat have you noticed any color clues in WB yet? I wish I would have asked Brandon if there were Aviars in WB. I think the answer is yes. Since we now know that Autonomy is the shard responsible for First of the Sun and the Aviars I’ve also wondered if there are clues in WhiteSand. But since I only have white sand in a word document it is not as easy to read as WB. Edited January 10, 2018 by JoyBlu
