Devout Pathian Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I just reread the prologue to the Way of Kings. I always knew Szeth wrote the message to Dalinar, but I wonder how Szeth learned to read and write Alethi? I could see how he would know the language of the Shin and maybe some other languages, but who would have taught him Alethi? Afterall he is a man, so I don’t see most females teaching him. I don’t know, maybe it was someone who had his oathstone at one point. Has anyone else noticed this? Also any other theories?
RShara she/her Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I think Szeth can read/write/speak a lot of languages. He went through a lot of training with the Shin before he ended up Truthless.
digitalbusker he/him Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I always assumed that Szeth's training included academics as well as surgebinding. I figure we'll get a flashback at some point that explains how he figured out another Desolation was coming, but it probably wasn't as simple as a Diagrammist in a scary mask jumping out at him yelling "Boo, I'm a Voidbringer and we're back!"
Devout Pathian Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 Okay I guess that makes sense the Shin might know a lot of languages. I wonder if Szeth’s training is normal for Shin.
