New Content Page: Mark Topic as Read (without Page Reload)

A bit of description for those who might not be familiar with this part of the site (like I wasn't for a few months).

I am talking about this page - the one you get to by hovering over the menu button the left hand side of the Search box and then hitting View New Content. With the (kind of) recent influx of people to the forums, we've been getting a lot of new topics and replies, and usually I am interested in (or have time for) only a fraction of them. The best way for me to keep up with all this is to:

  1. Go through a single page of new content
  2. For each topic, either open it in a new tab (if I am interested in it) or mark it as read without even opening it (which I can't do in a single click - I have to open the preview for that topic and then hit Mark as read)
  3. Reload the New Content page and repeat the operation until I run out of new content.

So, is it possible to move that Mark as read button from within the preview and put it somewhere where I don't have to click to get to?

You could try filtering ,by the forum's you would like to read ,to reduce your results.

Not good enough - right now (and this is just one example out of many) I have Amazon is the Devil!!! and Peter!!! in my New Content list - both of which are in the Words of Radiance Discussion subforum. I already read the first few posts in the former thread, so I know I can safely skip it if I am low on time (which, technically, I am right now...). The latter topic, however, is brand new to me and sounds potentially interesting - so I would like to take a look at it. Filtering wouldn't work for me here.
